Great study - oral supplementation should be standard practice for these frail and vulnerable patients!

This meta-analysis quantitatively demonstrates that oral nutritional supplementation could nearly halve the risk of infective complications, pressure ulcers & total complications after hip fracture. #Malnutrition #Hip @DuckworthOrthEd @EdinOrthopaedic https://t.co/lwBlhvE9JD

No, the pathological system is working as intended: we train NHS doctors then don't employ them when we have a massive doctor shortage. Totally normal. OBEs awarded all round

This is why we are where we are. Politicians spend far too much time thinking about dumb shit like "cool hubs" and football regulators and not enough about cheap energy and collapsing industry.

Stamp Duty should be abolished and replaced with an annual tax on the value of your property. That would remove a tax that stifles the market and install one that encourages transactions. It'd also be a more stable income income stream for govt, so could be lowered.

It does not make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do. You have to be run by ideas not hierarchy. The best ideas have to win, otherwise good people do not stay.  —Steve Jobs

https://t.co/32j5k8Wd18 via @BoneJoint360 Prevention very much better than cure - one idea I've had is targeted falls prevention in the community. Large-scale identification of at risk patients using AI and GP records would allow focused intervention IMO

Reports from @FT show 6k+ applicants for just 1700 training posts last year. Doctors are being left in limbo, without posts and unable to progress in their career. In an understaffed NHS this is a scandal. Government must urgently increase training posts.

I have joined a Facebook group called ‘Rate My Hospital Plate’. It is truly shocking what some hospitals in the NHS deem healthy nutritious food. Nutrition is such an important part of health and vital to ‘getting better’.. @jamieoliver @wesstreeting
