had a rather sobering conversation with @CharliePCole98 just now turns out this graph uses a 2015 model by david coleman, emeritus professor of demography at oxford university, which professor coleman has since revised his new model shows white replacement has accelerated

if the ambition is to restore british ethnic demography to pre-2000 levels, and to do so before the white british become a minority in their homeland around 2050, then we need to have serious conversations about the logistics of repatriating over 14 million immigrants

This is unadulterated & pure racism. Non-white Britons with British documents and even British birth are not British.

It is to the credit of liberals worldwide that they find the UK of 2025 embarrassing. That they do means they are thinking and can adapt based on evidence. Maybe they can learn from the failed experiment. It is extra sad since Liberals had much to be proud of in the long

This is a good question. Why are they lying? At this point the world doesn't believe the "all is well" story of UK multiculturalism and mass immigration. The state of the UK is actually actively embarrassing for liberals in the rest of the world and made fun of even by

The UK govt should get the IMF to produce a Structural Adjustment Plan for Britain – the cuts and tax rises it would do if it was called in. Then policy changes the govt does could be compared with that, rather than with the 'nothing changes' baseline we use now.

In Argentina, we gather around the table to slow down, spend time with family and friends, and chew on some good meat. We balance it all with our great red wine, Malbec. The Argentines call this "Sobremesa," the art of lingering after a meal. Pulses slow down. Stress melts

in the west, the left has spent 20 years successfully radicalising the majority of people against the left. why is the political right in ascendancy across the western world? because of the left. they are that insufferable.

Exactly. I was flabbergasted when I saw this result. It renders obsolete a substantial proportion of all past research in the foundations of quantum theory. Bizarrely, some of that research is still happening regardless.

It took me years of my life to formally prove this little sentence. To the uninitiated, the statement is obviously true. To an orthodox quantum physicist, it is oblivious false. To those who understand the underlying mathematics, it is simply beautiful.

Fast forward to last week - Washington and Beijing “solved” the Nexperia crisis between themselves, according to the various statements, agreeing to restart the flow of chips seemingly without any European / Dutch involvement A grizzly bit of realpolitik.

One passage stuck with me: in 2020, the US was so determined to stop ASML from sending an EUV lithography machine to China’s SMIC that an NSC official said “the president should send the US Navy after the shipment if necessary.”

Finished reading Fishman’s Chokepoints over the weekend. Strongly recommend as a companion piece to what's unfolding in real time with Nexperia, rare earths etc. But a sometimes depressing reminder of how little Europe has done to become competitive or resilient in the meantime.

Wait until he finds out the UK had 250% debt/GDP after WW2, yet Atlee nationalised 20% of the economy, founded the NHS, and created the welfare state.
