Disabled people do not deserve choice or any form of luxury, even when it is paid for by the individual. That's the message govt is sending to people who can access the motabilty scheme. It's dystopian and discriminatory.

To put these Motability cuts into perspective... It will save around £300 million. Latest figures show the DWP has spent over £400 million fighting people on PIP appeals. Scrap policies that punish Disabled people & stop pretending it's about economic efficiency! #Budget

We want to thank every single person who has spoken up, gone out to protest, and made a difference for us all. It's a brutal fight, but it's one we have to win.

We struggled through decades of austerity only to find Labour didn't care about us anymore - more interested in cutting the welfare budget and 'getting [us] back into work', while making it even harder to actually work as a disabled person. Reform will be worse.

Those protestors built us a foundation to continue the fight for liberation and inclusion of all disabled people. The protections they got for us all have saved countless lives - because exclusion from society isn't just difficult, it can be deadly.

Taking cues from the suffragetes, incredible disabled activists handcuffed themselves to buses (alongside other direct action) to demand that disabled people get legal protections from discrimination.

It's been 30 years since the Disability Discrimination Act was passed, and 15 since it was rolled into the Equality Act 2010. #disabilitydiscimination #EA2010

As people on a pittance are demonised, the rich are allowed to rob the “taxpayer” left, right and centre.
A company linked to Baroness Michelle Mone and her husband Doug Barrowman owes £39m in tax on top of the £148m it was ordered to pay the government for breaching a contract to supply PPE. https://t.co/vk1tjsvzOg

Could folk with physical disabilities and not mental illness PLEASE not collude with the idea that mental illness is not a disability.

I remember the old days: When we used to instruct children and staff with contagious illness to stay off school, to avoid spreading it. When we encouraged poorly children to rest and recover at home. When we sympathised with people who were unwell. We called it "care". 1/9

You should care about disabled people, not because you’ll be one someday, but because we’re human beings.

If you are disabled, you are disabled. It doesn’t matter what disability you have. There is no hierarchy, no such thing as “genuinely disabled vs not genuinely disabled”, we don’t grade disabilities on who has it worse. It’s not a competition.

A wheelchair using friend tells me they were denied access to no less than 4 rail replacement coaches trying to travel North from York. 2 said ♿️lifts were not working & 2 wouldn’t try. But do tell me again how disabled people have the same access to travel as everyone else 🤬

Disabled people are not a “cost” to the UK economy — they are an engine of it. There are 16 million disabled people in the UK. That’s almost 1 in 4 adults. And yet most economic narratives still frame disability only in terms of welfare spending. But here are the actual data

I've said this before, but it's worth driving home: the incredibly tight eligibility criteria for free Covid-19 vaccination in the UK is the very definition of a false economy, especially in the context of a health system at breaking point. This is appalling public health policy.
Have you booked your free NHS COVID-19 vaccination? 💉💪 Check if you’re eligible and book online or via the NHS App now. 📅 🔗 https://t.co/XjdwmA7Rro

Mental illnesses are real disabilities. They can be debilitating, life-limiting, deadly. They can severely impact someone’s ability to live independently, work, and function. And no, you can’t always easily tell.
