This is a very important article by Toronto’s Dr. Mark D’Sousa which discusses #antisemitism in general but also the insidious prevalence of antisemitism in #Healthcare It is extremely important to see allies like him speak out against anti-Jewish hate https://t.co/y77Ed36VDd

Opinion: Canadians are protecting the mirage of single-tier health care. It doesn’t exist /via @globeandmail

Those with means already have access to a health care system that those without do not, and that’s not even accounting for the places in Canada where you can pay out of pocket

In no new news whatsoever, longer ER wait times = more LWBS (left without being seen) patients who return later sicker?!? Decades long problem, and causes clearly known yet continuously unaddressed 🙄 @CAEP_Docs @CAEPResidents @CMA_Docs @alandrummond2

About half a million people left emergency departments across Canada before being seen by a doctor last year, according to data analysis by CBC’s Marketplace.

This hospital had the longest wait times in Ontario last year. It’s using AI, private donors to speed up care Data shows median length of stay at Sunnybrook in 2024 was more than 8 hours https://t.co/vU4oAI26lQ

Toronto’s Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is using artificial intelligence to reduce the amount of time people spend in the emergency department and increase the amount of focus doctors can provide...

Good for the donors but for Chrissakes Ontario - depending on charity to keep a major trauma center going? Beyond.Fucking.Belief.

As a physician at a downtown urban hospital where many of our patients are homeless then to see a hospital in one of Canada's richest postal codes use private donor $$ to "solve" their ED wait times is nothing short of appalling. Here's some context 🧵 https://t.co/pL99PfhdJ0

This night shift is brought to you by: Carl’s Engine and Muffler Proud supporters of emergency medical care in the Province of Ontario Man, this is a new low. As dystopian as it is absurd. @alandrummond2 @davidcarr333
It’s an absurd notion that in a publicly funded system, @Sunnybrook ER needs to rely on donor money to add physician hours of coverage to keep their patients safe. Our funding of EDs needs to change STAT. Patients continue to be harmed. @CAEP_Docs @alandrummond2 @OntarioHealthOH

This is a new one on me and frankly, a new low for Canada. Seriously. Un-fucking. Believable
@alandrummond2 do you know of any other hospitals in Canada using private donors to pay to staff additional unfunded hours of ED coverage?

Private donors paying for and being asked to support physician coverage in the public system. Blown away by this concept. Nothing makes the government happier than having others pay to fix their mess. Two tier medicine at its finest. Not every hospital has a donor pool.

This is such a dangerous precedent. Should make all Ontario residents uncomfortable. Especially those who work in emergency departments. Shocking. Should be front page news.
