65 Labour peers didn't turn up. One even joined the exodus to live in Dubai. That's why you lost the vote, Angela. You can't even get your own Lords to vote for this dreadful Bill.

33 Tory hereditary peers voted against the Employment Rights Bill last week. We lost the vote by 24. That could mean some of the lowest earners will not get statutory sick pay this April. We must pass this Bill without delay.

I met with @ClaireCoutinho to exchange insights on energy prices and security. I reiterated to MP Coutinho that high energy costs in the UK are the chief obstacle to economic investment and growth, which will make it difficult for UK companies to be competitive.  I appreciate her

🚨This is a bombshell moment. A must-read report from the grid operator forecasts rushing to Net Zero as Ed Miliband is doing makes our energy system £350 billion more expensive than going slower. That’s equivalent to 0.4% of GDP every single year from now to 2050 or £500 per

A 78 per cent tax rate on UK oil and gas is not a strategy. It is economic vandalism. Mark my words, when investment leaves, jobs go with it. And when production falls, we end up at the mercy of foreign suppliers who do not share our values, our standards or our interests.

Oh, and with regards to Norway, there are many things to consider when emulating their approach. Like, continuing to encourage new #oilandgas production. Like, retaining status as an independent coastal state, OUTSIDE of the #commonfisheriespolicy #CFP by remaining outside EU.

So basically, nationalise energy in an independent Scotland? Will that go for ALL energy systems or only new projects? Any analysis on what that would do for future investment? And, without any new nuclear, what will serve as base load in an otherwise weather-based power system?

Norway used its energy wealth to build one of the most prosperous and fair societies in the world. Scotland can do it too, with the fresh start of independence. Get involved: https://t.co/YoCDw78pdG

😴 I was nodding off but did FM take credit for Scotland getting into World Cup at one point? Lots of comparisons with Norway, but is he remembering that Norway are not members of EU? 🤔 Reminds me of the 2019 GE campaign when apparently a vote for SNP meant, “Stop Brexit!” 🤪

This is astonishing. A staggering level of incompetence. The Prime Minister doesn’t understand how the windfall tax works. 200,000 jobs are on the line in the oil and gas industry because he hasn’t bothered to understand how damaging the EPL is for investment.

⁉️What is the PM talking about? His Budget just kept the Energy Profits Levy -the windfall tax - until 2030! This is complete incompetence. 👉There is no windfall. 👉But Oil & Gas companies are still paying windfall taxes. 👉By the PM’s own logic the EPL must be scrapped. Now.

The PM doesn't understand the Energy Profits Levy. Following his TV comments, my NE Scotland neighbour @AndrewBowie_MP & I have written to the PM saying that, by his own logic, the EPL must end. ❌There is no windfall. ❌So why are #OilandGas companies paying a windfall tax?

Sir Ian Wood is someone @UKLabour should take seriously. I also agree with @StephenFlynnSNP - as I said earlier - this is a good opportunity for @GBEgovuk to step up and show us what benefit they can bring to the NE Scotland economy. https://t.co/6y54VAZrG4

Great intervention from @HarrietCross_MP Minister's response not as clever as he thinks. @UKLabour INCREASED duration (and rate) of #windfalltax #EPL As for the low price trigger? That would be the #EnergySecurity Investment Mechanism introduced by previous @Conservatives Govt!

The Gov has all the evidence they need - from many sources - of the impact of not scrapping the Energy Profits Levy. 🥀The thousands of job losses, billions in lost investment, accelerated drop in production, loss of skills abroad & slower energy transition will be their legacy.
