Great to see @CBItweets supporting this. The International Student Levy would take £300mill out of @RussellGroup universities alone, impacting our ability to invest in R&D, high-quality teaching and student support that all help the government’s growth and opportunity agenda.

🚨 STOP the International Student Levy! It's a short-sighted tax that will undermine UK growth and competitiveness. Our universities are powerful engines of R&D and local economies. Read more on our joint letter with @UniversitiesUK in @thetimes 👇

I’m appalled by the attack at a synagogue in Crumpsall. The fact that this has taken place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more horrific. My thoughts are with the loved ones of all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency

The figures simply don’t add up for higher education in England and Wales. Yet delusional politicians from all parties seem intent on avoiding the issue, says Guardian columnist Zoe Williams

People think money has ruined football but the sight of a rapist dictator standing next to a corrupt football official in front of a big gold trophy at a competition bankrolled by Saudi Arabia reminds me the game still belongs to us.

The way the English commentators speak of Jofra Archer you'd think he's the second coming of Malcolm Marshall. Most overrated fast bowler I've ever seen.
