Dear Overwatch and Diablo teams, thank you for taking the careful time to ensure your games are ready and for also influencing a desperately needed change of leadership. 💙
In an interview with GamesBeat, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick explained his motive for selling to Microsoft, citing the delay of Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 as having a principle effect on declining stock prices.

In other news, my indie project has grown beyond just me.
Now we’re a small collab team, industry veterans from Blizzard and Riot, and we’re exploring what our next steps are.
Hopefully more to share soon.
If you're out there tomorrow and see someone who makes you uncomfortable, talk to someone with a blue armband helping to organize it. They want to make you feel safe.

And to any former Blizzard employees planning on attending tomorrow’s walk out, a word to the wise: Your abusers may be out there as well under the guise of support against the wrongdoings they themselves had a hand in. Protect yourself first ❤️

So this tweet is blowing up. You can support me by... nah, just kidding. Go out and find a game developer who made a thing you liked and tell them how much you liked that thing.
After careful consideration over the last year, we at Blizzard have made the decision not to hold BlizzCon in 2024. We’re excited to bring BlizzCon back in future years, and we still have some exciting plans for events in 2024!

Me: the garage door fully closed as I drove off
Brain: what if it didn't though
Me: what do you mean
Brain: maybe it stuttered and went back up
Me: that has only happened like twice
Brain: did you see it fully close
Me: I--
Brain: go on turn the car around
Me: the rectangle thing in my pocket is my passport
Brain: what if it’s not though
Me: what else could it be
Brain: like a small book
Me: I didn’t bring a small book
Brain: maybe you should take it out your pocket to check
Me: I’ve already done this
Brain: go on let’s see

“Spreads misinformation, harasses people, and weaponizes a large audience to make his victims’ lives worse”.
Words I could equally use for you and your game development leaks and insider “scoops”.
Should you be deplatformed?
@TheCriticalDri2
Fair job highlighting Anakin's flaws and development. I think one thing's missing: there are plenty of good things in him too, not just flaws. These two sides conflict and we see him struggle (until he ultimately turns). Both halves necessary to write a "well-balanced character".
As the bombs fell, Hawaii was suffering collateral damage from a surrounding naval battle.
A century later, a Kingdom exists in its ashes as Native Hawaiians take back the chain and defend it from raiders and outside forces, including the Enclave and the Brotherhood of Steel.
I can tell you for a fact that Fran Townsend’s statement and the previous corporate statement do not speak for Blizzard, the WoW team, and certainly not for me. We’re all livid.
I’ve been digging Fallout 76 these past few nights.
- Leveled from 1 to 22. Following story quests. 🫡
- Super Mutants are rough. 😅
- Finally built a proper 3x3 shack tonight. 👍
- Called it quits tonight after dealing with invisible enemies at the dam. 🫥
To all my fellow ex-Blizzard employees also dealing with your own trauma through this
please disconnect for a while and take care of yourself
All of this is so exhausting and you deserve some rest
If I had to pick a single adjective to describe game development as a career to someone, it would be this:
Bumpy.
You’re bumping against player expectations, against fellow creatives, against studio management decisions, etc. If you aren’t , I’d argue that something is missing.
Does anyone know where we are in the the Twitter game dev discourse cycle?
I see that we're back on reusing assets but what's next? Are we due for another Breath of the Wild weapons?
Both of the previous two times I came to Disneyland, I ended up breaking my shoes walking around.
This time, I wore sandals. I’m in pain…
But my sandals are intact. I win this time, mouse.
As an upcoming designer, I was mentored by and worked closely with individuals I'm now hearing terrible stories about. A lot of arms-length treatment and questions from other team members make so much sense now. I feel disgusted and ashamed that I had no clue what was happening.
Many wrecks from the Chinese and American navies surround the islands inhabited by ghoulified sailors. Refugees and raiders gather on floating platforms and barges.
The player can traverse between the islands and explore the surrounding waters on a customizable boat.

Interfaces, soft references, pure vs impure functions, when to store local variables and when to drag node connectors, etc.
So many bad habits painfully unlearned after watching YouTube tutorials.

1. Not a lot of free time.
2. When I did have free time, tough to follow up 8 work hours of WoW with more hours of the same at home.
3. When I did play WoW at home, it was mostly raid-logging.
4. Didn't have a dedicated group. 👉👈
5. PUG atmosphere was rough when I tried.
In the meantime, I’m glad to see a lot of my friends and coworkers getting their own voices out and seeing such a supportive reaction from the player community. It means so much to all of us. Thank you.
We’re trying to pool and prepare our own messaging together but we’re giving space for folks to cope and find their thoughts. Please forgive us for needing some time.
To everyone rushing to forgive these figures because deep down they want to feel better about their industry idols, all you're creating is insulation for them. It makes it harder for victims to step forward if now there's a wave of public support behind their abusers.
Other factions exist under the surface, as a strong criminal underworld thrives. Meanwhile, a rare entourage from the closed nation of Japan has also recently arrived.
Each faction is interested in you and in resources. Your actions and choices affect territorial control.
Ever seen a Super Mutant go surfing? How does a ghoul suntan on a nuclear beach? Why did Vault-Tec have experimental vaults located under the sea and in a volcano?
Explore a post-apocalyptic paradise all while bopping to oldies music with an island twist.
It's difficult to read "we could have done better" apologies from Big Names™ no longer at the company when I have heard horrific stories (from victims and witnesses) about those individuals and the atmosphere they directly created in the workplace.

I don’t know. This feels the same as making someone’s life in CS a living hell just because you don’t like a decision made by a CEO.
Regardless of studio or industry, everyone should use this as a catalyst to address their leadership and talk about unspoken truths in their workplace.
Efficient game development involves having a library of things you already know work and using them to build off of instead of having to rebuild everything from scratch.
end mandatory arbitration.
improve diverse recruitment & hiring practices.
publicize compensation data.
hire a 3rd party audit to evaluate existing infrastructure.

"How can we make an impact on our leadership that doesn't hurt our players and coworkers?" -- a question asked on the behalf of a lot of exhausted developers.
@iamjohn_c
Cool. I very new to stocks (<1mo) and I don’t have many benchmarks for what smarter traders use. I’ve already learned some costly but valuable lessons. 😛 I plan on asking more people and gaining a stronger sense to all of this.
I don't ask for things on my birthday, but this year there's something I would like. Find someone politically opposite from you, who you would normally be snarky to or attack in a tweet, and say something genuinely nice to them. Not sarcastic, not backhanded. Genuine positivity.
