Canada can say all it wants about how "concerned" it is for civilian lives, but this is meaningless if it continues to give political support to Israel's illegal bombing + starvation campaign. Israel is directly targeting a civilian population in an open-air prison. Ceasefire now
Q: “What is Canada’s position on whether there should be a ceasefire right now, and whether Israel needs to stop its bombardment?” Shamefully, the answer was NO: Canada still supports Israel’s brutal war even after killing 2,600+ Palestinians, the majority children & women.

@kelprescue @BamfieldMSC @baumlab So we have good data showing that just placing #greengravel in the ocean won’t restore lost #kelp forests on this coast, & some insights on how the survivors stayed. Next year, we’ll test urchin control & more env variables to get us closer to scalable #kelpforest restoration!

This big kelp is super exciting, a proof of concept for this #restoration method, but it’s one of very few that survived since outplanting in spring. Survival was high for ~2 months, until urchins grazed most of our #greengravel, like this one eating one of our #kelp in August 🍽️

While it’s been a year full of challenges & loss, a real bright spot was recently diving on some #greengravel Giant Kelp I grew that’s survived to adulthood! This one off the Deer Group islands here in tradtl Huu-ay-aht territory was 7 meters tall in Aug & growing strong 🥲 #kelp

21 weeks of heat stress in the FL Keys this summer. That is more than double the old record of 10 weeks (the graph on the bottom). On the top graph you can see how this years sea surface temps (black line) compare to the other years since 1985. This has decimated coral.

This Aug we said farewell to my lab mate the past 6 months, @graceemelchers, who’s off to start her Master’s in #kelp ecology! Thanks to Grace’s contributions, we achieved so many goals in our research on kelp restoration. We’ll miss you, Grace, & good luck in your next pursuit!
