I joined this lawsuit as a journalist and a victim of a violent crime. As a reporter, OPD had never fufilled any of my PRA requests. Not one. As a victim, I couldn't get a copy of my report after being robbed at gunpoint. Hopefully the police can now start following the law.
I can finally talk about the class action settlement with the Oakland police for years of routinely ignoring public records requests. I and three other journalists plus Oakland Privacy sued OPD last year. It will be voted on at the next council meeting.

I was robbed at gunpoint in Oakland in 2019. I had to sue the police department just to get a copy of my report, which included an officer forging a report as if I wrote it.
I would have loved to have a social worker involved in the case. (Also, Ann is trash.)
Well, let's just hope she was able to give a good suspect description to the responding social workers.
