We did it! In the past year, we held 4 academic writing retreats featuring intensive writing, mentoring, and community building within a group we call the Hive. Fresh off our most recent retreat, here's what we’ve learned across all 4, and what we’ll do differently in 2024: 🧵

Have you ever watched a baby die of pertussis? I have. Several. This is what it looks like: A newborn baby can’t stop coughing. They can’t catch their breath and they can’t eat. They get dehydrated and stop peeing. They sometimes have pauses in their breathing. Parents are

📢Advocacy in Action! Check out @PolicyLabCHOP faculty member, Dr. Aditi Vasan, who testified to @PADemPolicy about the the positive impact tax credits can have on families with children. Studies have shown they can even prevent pre-term births!

It’s #WorldLungDay, so let’s talk about #bronchiolitis and continuous #pulseoximetrymonitoring—why are guidelines not being followed? In a recent study, researchers, including Drs. Halley Ruppel & Chris Bonafide, investigated. Read their results here: https://t.co/GTp3y2Ebe2.

Why do clinicians use continuous pulse ox outside established guidelines in bronchiolitis? Congrats to Dr. Halley Ruppel and the EMO Study team on this publication on this challenge! Over 70% of instances had non-clinical reasons. Could this guide better strategy development?

So, many of you have shared theories on how 80 pig knickknacks ended up closed up behind the walls of a house in the suburbs. Most of the theories have been wholesome and cute. But some have been very, very dark.

So, yesterday was wild. Started off with this text from my neighbor. He's a great guy but has no business cutting open walls by himself. I grabbed some tools and went over there. 1/x 🧵

Some of my faves. As a huge fan of @WhistlePigRye, finding 80 pig knickknacks was perhaps a higher calling to more formally establish our relationship as exclusive and stop playing the field

After the unboxing was over, we counted a total of 80ish pig knicknacks dating as far back as the 1930s!

We opened the first box to find a bunch of carefully, individually wrapped things. Someone cared deeply about saving these, at some point. Until someone thwarted that plan by closing them off with walls on all 4 sides
