When I was young on a forum someone incredulously said "If evolution is true there has to be some kinda massive external source just pumping energy into the earth - I think we'd notice that!" and honestly I've just been chasing that high for the rest of my time on the internet.šŸ˜Ž

Keir Starmer to create team to tackle ā€˜national security’ threat of people-smugglers Labour have learned nothing from racist violence. They blocked hotel fire exits and set them alight. And without pausing for breath PM says this.

I don’t know how long I’m supposed to spend of my time trying to save them money. At some point either the trial will expire or they’ll decide I’ve been defrauding them and cancel my access to all my ebooks. Fun times.

So it turns out if @AmazonUK wrongly decides you’re a student and signs you up to a six month prime student trial there is no way of cancelling it and it is literally impossible these days to reach a human being in customer service. It used to be hard. Now you just can’t.

A baby drowned in the Channel last night. I hope at this point the UK govt will acknowledge that increased security + policing on the French coast is not leading to fewer crossings, but more deadly ones, as people take higher risks (fuller boats, longer routes) to evade police

Uggghhhhh. The Home Office was using a racist algorithm about 5 years ago and it was stopped through pre-action. But it was only a matter of time before rights violating algorithms were going to start being used across the board. Digital Hostile Environment.

AMAZING work by @privacyint!! Their tenacity has REVEALED another algorithm used on the quiet on Home Office immigration cases. This is big - we all know AI can reproduce biases & discrimination. Transparency is absolutely key to protecting us from unaccountable software.

The community has endured 7 years of hell. They have been let down over and over again by all of civil society. They need our support and solidarity now, more than ever.

Our @Praxis_Projects statement on the Grenfell Inquiry report and in solidarity with the Grenfell community. It has not passed us by that a huge number of bereaved, survivors and residents are from migrant communities. We stand together, calling for real change and justice.

Today, we remember the 72 people who lost their lives in Grenfell Tower, whose deaths were entirely avoidable. Our thoughts are also with those left behind, the bereaved and the survivors.🧵

One interesting thing about Berlin is how comfortably people with fascist ideologies move through it. Last week, on my way to coffee with a friend in the middle of town, I saw three guys dressed like this on our street. They weren't making a fuss - they were right at home.

Look at these photos by @RechercheNord at yesterday's AfD meetup in Thuringia: the hairstyles and dress codes I have been seeing more than ever in Berlin this year. Fred Perry, Lonsdale, references to Norse mythology (Thor, Valhalla). A whole identity. https://t.co/OXAC9d88g6

We're so used to seeing migration as a problem we need a solution for. We never talk about a better future which includes people who cross borders into the UK. @minnierahman from @Praxis_Projects talked about the far-right riots on the New Economics Podcast with @AyeishaTS

I know nobody likes to listen to campaigners. But we have been saying/providing evidence that the Home Office is wasting tax payers money with expensive, bureaucratic, nonsense policies. This isn't because there are too many people moving here, it's because the system is shite.

🚨 NEW: The IFS has backed Rachel Reeves's claim that Labour inherited a worse financial situation than expected, criticising the Home Office for 'woeful' budget figures under the Tories that underestimated asylum costs The budget for 3 years was £320m, but spending hit £7.9bn

Yesterday I attended the funeral of Kris Maharaj. He spent 38 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, 16 on death row. He never got to be reunited with his beloved wife Marita. The fight continues & @CliveSSmith is raising funds to exonerate him https://t.co/qzCI0tzhaZ
