👉Banks told a client that they can’t open a bank account because their BRP expires on 31st December 2024, even though their visa continues well beyond this point. 👉Banks not accepting letters from the Home Office stating that they are not issuing BRPs anymore as evidence. 3/5.

👉Benefits Office said they aren’t ready to accept eVisas as proof of immigration status in an application for child benefit. 👉At least 2 high street banks saying they don’t have eVisa as an option for proof of immigration status. 2/5.

On 31st Oct, the Home Office stopped issuing biometric residence cards (BRPs) as part of the eVisa transition. Until now, 4 million people relied on physical documents, including BRPs, to prove their immigration status and basic rights in the UK. Here's what we've seen so far👇.

Security, policing, border controls - but where are the people in the conversation?. For too long people on the move have been presented as a problem, dehumanised as a number, classified as "illegal". This Govt. has a chance to do things differently, to treat people like people.

The ONLY way to stop people taking dangerous journeys is to let them take safe ones. Most people fleeing for their lives have no safe way to claim asylum in the UK - that's why people are arriving by small boats. Reinstate safe routes NOW! 1/2
