Think staying home is hard? Try risking your life in ICU working 12 hour shifts, days after day, wrapped in layers of PPE and coping with the loss of half your patients. They’re doing their part. You do yours.
And I'll bet all of you on London Fields will dutifully come out and clap for the NHS next Thursday. Well, you know what? Keep it.

Like your predecessors who founded #ICU the 1950s from the polio epidemic, this is our chance to make #ICURehab a core of the pathway and not an optional extra. Survival is not enough. Giving our lives back to us must be the measure of a successful outcome.

That's so true. We must learn from the #covid_19 experience. #ICU may save our lives, but we need support and rehabilitation to give those lives back to us. Compared to treatment, rehab is cheap - even a saving in the big picture. #icurehab should not be an optional extra.
@chaffron Part of a team that runs an ICU follow up clinic - aware of the systemic problems. Feel embarrassed there is often so little to offer ex patients. Perhaps the COVID numbers will force the issue. I fear some will become the forgotten. We must give them a voice!
