These events also result in the use of critical care transport/retrieval services to assist, as we noticed over the last year. Facilities subject to attack lose the ability to care for the sickest patients.
#Ransomware attacks don’t just impact a single hospital/health system. 15% increase in ED visits to surrounding hospitals in the aftermath. #FOAMed #FOAMems

Periodic reminder that setting the Alaris pump at 999/hr is not a fluid bolus. At that rate, it takes 30 mins to give 500 mL. (This is not about whose fault it is, just about what a bolus actually means & need for clarification).

Brain Injury Associated Shock (aka BIAS) - Haemodynamic compromise from isolated severe TBI is rare & in our services experience, indistinguishable from haemorrhagic shock in sick multi-trauma patients. https://t.co/jH1We45C3Q

A fantastic review of metabolic acidosis from the @CritCareTime team. Highly recommend their podcast, though I may be biased as I have known @nickmmark since 2006 when we worked on an ambulance together. Please don’t kill me for posting this Nick 🤣
Folks - We’ve fixed that weird annoying background sound in our latest episode. So sorry about that! Be sure to listen to the version called “fixed audio issue” in your favorite podcast app. And now back to #NephMadness!

This important publication demonstrates why we need to look skeptically at single center RCTs; few are ultimately replicated.
Our new publication in @Crit_Care🍾 How often is significant mortality reduction in single-center trials replicated by subsequent multicenter trials? Even if you consider monocentric trials published in NEJM/JAMA/Lancet, the probability is only 6%😱 🔓 https://t.co/StWxSSqzdU
