This is silly. If everyone followed the “new paradigm,” no one would work for all the new companies these entrepreneurs are starting.
The old paradigm: go to a good school, get a degree and get a good job... is dead. The new paradigm: find your purpose, start a company, create and lead is our future Entrepreneurship is the only future career .

There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot that logically follows from the claim that: the arguments for God are unpersuasive. So what are you talking about?
The atheist bubble has burst, not because atheists were wrong about the central question, but because the prominent ones were wrong about everything that logically follows.

This is great. It shows the suppleness of human emotion. She’s moved to tears by the story, yet at the same time can laugh at herself for being so affected by a work of fiction.

Best part of “Interstellar” is still the fact that Christopher Nolan spent $100K to plant 500 acres of real corn in Alberta (instead of using CGI to recreate a field). Then, sold the corn for a profit after filming. Remains most profitable commodities trade in Hollywood history.

Hmm, I find this set up slightly—for lack of a better term—repulsive. The lit shelves remind me of the produce section of a grocery store, or the book section of an airport.

🎯"#Nietzsche provides an account of skepticism as a regulative virtue, showing how skeptical traits are related to other intellectual virtues—such as honesty, courage, and curiosity—in regulating the motivation for knowledge"

Recent approaches are unable to make full sense of Nietzsche's distinction between weak and strong skepticism (BGE 208–209; A54). In this paper, I propose an alternative interpretation. My suggesti...

The anonymity is unhelpful. When you identify yourself as a philanthropist, it encourages more philanthropy. Remaining unnamed is faux-humility and ineffective altruism.
🚨 BREAKING: President Trump reveals an anonymous billionaire has just sent in a check for $130 MILLION to keep paying our troops Trump says the person doesn’t want to be named or recognized What a PATRIOT! 🇺🇸 Who is it? @elonmusk? Maybe @rookisaacman?

New version of the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy entry on Dualism is now live! This update was a huge job, and there’s still plenty I’d like to improve in the next version, but this will have to do until 2030.

Often, when I would try to describe to people what being a philosopher is like, I wouldn't have a resource to share with them. This is one of the reasons I started What Is It Like to Be a Philosopher? Still, when people would ask me for something to read, I found it difficult to

Scott’s a good, smart dude
I've been reflecting on the evolution of my thinking about IQ and wanted to write an honest post about it. As a child: "I didn't do well on an IQ test. IQ tests are invalid." As a teenager: "I'm going to spend my career in psychology showing that IQ is invalid." [1/5]

For this week's @NewYorker, I wrote about the centuries-old project (surprisingly successful, at times) of recovering long-lost myths from fragments in language, historical texts, and modern stories.
Sifting through myth, scholars are endeavoring to retrieve the imaginative worlds of the earliest storytellers. https://t.co/ZOzfCIarWg
