We’re very sad to hear that Oliver Knussen has died. A brilliant conductor and composer, and the life and soul of many of our best events over the last three decades - not least an outstanding concert at the Aldeburgh Festival just three weeks ago.

Today we remember Julian Bream, a guitarist who established a lengthy friendship and strong artistic association with Aldeburgh. He leaves us all an extraordinary musical legacy.

Today we're thinking of Millicent Fawcett, leader of the suffragist movement and just chosen by a BBC Radio 4 poll as most influential woman of the past 100 years. She lived in Aldeburgh and her family built and ran Snape Maltings.
