It’s amazing how many different forms beauty can take. Taking a few weekend trips scattered throughout my life wouldn’t cut it. Living on the move for 6 months didn’t even cut it, but it was a great start. Plus, I’m the type of person that when I want something, I go all in. 6/

That’s so much land. This country is gigantic. Texas alone took me 6 weeks to get through (and a big chunk of the driving was done without internet, listening to static filled Spanish radio as I went down county roads fenced off from the farms on either side). 5/

I wish people would stop talking about climate change and start talking about pollution. There’s trash everywhere, plastic everywhere, we’re dumping chemicals into the oceans and the atmosphere. Regardless of your stance on climate change, pollution is a problem.

@brodentcel In Ancient Rome, gold coins were minted by the gov. Over time, they created more coins by adding other metals and using less gold per coin (fiat), causing inflation. Pure gold doesn’t corrode. Gold only corrodes when mixed with other metals. This is a warning about inflation.

When I didn’t have a gym to shower at, I rinsed off in rivers. As hot as it was, the rivers in Utah and Colorado were freezing cold because the water was snow up in the mountains just a few hours earlier. 11/

Cows have four stomachs and gorillas have extra long large intestines to aid in the digestion of plants. We have neither. We have a particularly acidic stomach at a pH of ~2. Cows stomach pH is ~6.5. Very neutral. The strong acidity aids in digesting complete proteins, ie, meat.

I slept in my car whenever I had to stay a few nights in a city. I went to the gym every chance I could. It’s where I worked out, got most of my water for the day, showered, etc. While I was in the city, I would stock up on food (just meat and fruit of course). 8/

The trip was an enlightening experience. I’ll get to what I learned, but first, how I went about it. For these 6 months, I lived in my small SUV. I built a foldable bedframe/storage unit to go in my trunk. It gave me a flat surface to sleep on when the back seats were down. 7/

The owners had no house, apartment, etc. I also saw many tents in national forests. There were owners who had no house, apartment, etc. I don’t think it’s the sleeping in a tent part that makes you homeless. It’s the state of your body. 26/

Still on the fence about climate change and our contribution to it, but even if the worst models were correct, there’s no amount of rationalization that could lead me to believe not having kids is the solution. If that’s your solution you have your priorities mixed up.

It’s crazy that people will go into $100,000 of debt for a degree. It’s even crazier that some of those same people won’t put a couple hundred dollars worth of books on their credit card.
