"COVID is a good case study for illustrating the collective-denial playbook that underpins our new normal reality." You may think it's bad already, but brace yourselves because the collective denial is going to go up several levels. https://t.co/Uv8bj7UWxV

Every New Yorker I know is sad to see the outdoor dining sheds disappear. We should prioritize local businesses and places to gather outside over parking spots.

BREAKING: The Lancet has just published this article "conservatively" estimating that the death toll in the Gaza genocide could be 186,000 people or more. That's 8% of the population, obliterated. These are apocalyptic figures. https://t.co/HaRTAvTvVI

Having done my best to piss off a lot of people on this website one thing that stands out is how people who are accustomed to driving their car everywhere have never even really given car culture any thought. Like, no part of it.

The science is clear but most mass media journalists have never told people that the acute phase of covid isn't the disease. They have remained silent about the risk of re-infections and downplayed every new wave to keep you calm https://t.co/zvdeKdYPQd

New evidence suggests anyone infected with COVID is at higher risk for heart issues—a risk that persists even in relatively healthy people long after the illness has passed.

Three months ago, we met Kate Jones, the woman who set the world record for the fastest trip through the city’s subway system. Now she’s back, and she’s broken yet another record in NYC. @patkiernan and @JamieStelter discuss. #MorningsOn1

World leaders & politicians are testing positive for Covid for the 3rd time. Celebrities are dropping dead. Babies and children are dying. Folks are normalizing mid-summer “pneumonia” hospitalizations & passing out from disease. Yet we STILL won’t stop playing Pretend Normal.

tl;dr: broke my ankle, broke a record! You’re looking at the current Guinness World Record holder for the fastest time to travel to all New York City Subway stations! 472 stations in 22h14m10s, and I’m the first woman to hold the record in it’s nearly 57 year history.

Today the NYPD arrested people trying to stop the harassment of an abortion clinic. Then they arrested people protesting the killing of Jordan Neely. All after withholding the name of Jordan’s killer, Daniel Penny, for as long as possible.

Cannot overstate how much it feels like we just memory-holed the monthslong nationwide insurrection against the police that happened not even three years ago. Tens of thousands of us got gassed, beaten, black-bagged off the street or extrajudicially assassinated by federal agents

Layers of best-in-class COVID safety for Davos, the White House, and Westminster. Virtually no protections for most workplaces, schools, and public transport. The pandemic isn't over. It's just much more inequitable.
