Joel Embiid has currently missed 11 of his team’s 44 games. That’s concerning on its own but what’s more interesting is the games he doesn’t play in.

I have not done the research of other seasons outside of this one, but if these trends hold true for other seasons (which anecdotally they seem to) it would explain why Embiid has such a drastic drop off from regular season to post-season statistically.

Considering the fact that in the league 2/3 of the teams are at least playoff/play-in teams it’s odd that he would play 2/3 of his games against the bottom third of the league.
More interesting is the amount of playoff caliber road games he is missing.

Yes. They are. Because MvP is mostly a statistical argument. Your stats are gonna be higher if you play against the bad teams and avoid the tough ones. They are also naturally higher at home than on the road. Context on that matters.

Also important to note that in 1962 when Hatch went to law school, the average private law school tuition was $475 a year. Adjusted for inflation, that is a little less than $4000. I wish my tuition were that low and if it were I could definitely work as a janitor to pay it off.
