When you pay for something which is subsequently deemed not fit for purpose, at the very least, you expect to be offered an exchange. So with this in mind, I would like to exercise my consumer’s right and demand a general election.

Cameron was bad. May was awful. Johnson was appalling. I think a word has yet to be invented that can fully encapsulate the unmitigated disaster that is Liz Truss.

What did we learn today? Well, if you promise bankers bigger bonuses AND give them a 5% income tax drop, they wouldn’t dream of tanking your currency.

Hi #Gogglebox viewers. Dad’s amazing music with the @BBCPhilharmonic is available to buy / stream. All proceeds go to dementia charities. Apple: https://t.co/1cUlfsCgOC Amazon: https://t.co/u8y4atF3OE Spotify: https://t.co/umYHv914yB Here’s how it all came to pass.

Dad’s ability to improvise and compose beautiful melodies on the fly has always amazed me. Tonight, I gave him four random notes as a starting point. Although his dementia is getting worse, moments like this bring him back to me.

Word of the day is 'braggadocio' (16th century): an empty boaster and strutting swaggerer. Also used for the bluster and bombast they produce.

The best thing to come out of Lockdown? Discovering Schitt’s Creek. My wife and I are bereft that we’ve come to the end of the final season.

Two Latin words for a star or constellation: 'aster' and 'sidus'. They glimmer across English: disaster: an ill-starred event. asterisk: a little star. astronaut: a star-sailor. consider: to observe the stars. desire: to wish upon a star.

So @Swim_England have just released extremely sensible guidelines of what a socially distanced lane in a swimming pool should look like when pools reopen. Huzzah. I've put their ideal alongside what it will really be like, for reference. 😂😂

Insight from the historical dictionary on futzing about: quiddle: to spend time on trivial tasks as a way of avoiding the important ones. moodle: to busy oneself in an unmethodical and entirely ineffectual manner. boondoggle: to spend time on a project you'll ultimately regret.

Aristocracy, before embracing the elite, first meant government by the best of citizens (from the Greek ‘aristos’, ‘best’). Government by the worst people, on the other hand, is kakistocracy.
