Today, our 🇧🇪member Testachats is suing Ryanair for charging hand baggage of a reasonable size and weight. After a179M€ penalty in Spain last year, these actions show the need to introduce clear rules in the ongoing revision of the Air Pax Regulation.

BEUC and members filed an EU-wide complaint against water bottle producers for greenwashing. 97% of bottled water consumed in 🇪🇺 is in plastic. We found that the industry's claims about the recyclability of these bottles are insufficiently substantiated.

“Recycle Me” — and say it right☝️. Following a dialogue with the Commission and national consumer authorities, Coca-Cola will modify its recycling claims so consumer can rely on fair and clear information about the recycling characteristics of the bottles. #ConsumerProtection

We're missing:.❌airlines insolvency protection to prevent harm to consumers and other tourism actors.❌cancellation rights for passengers in case of a major crisis. This would ensure coherence between passenger rights initiatives and the Package Travel Directive.

⚠️Regulate intermediaries holistically and stop certain practices: all refund situations should be covered, clear information about the protection or lack thereof should be given and deterrents for failure to provide such info, all fees should be returned to consumers.

We think this should be improved:.⚠️Enforcement and redress provisions with easy to exercise rights for consumers and strong deterrents for players – carriers and intermediaries - who do not abide by the rules.
