We talk a lot about how EGS is following the shale boom playbook, and we are. But selling firm power on long term contracts looks very different from a capital and market structure perspective. EGS requires policy fit for power generation to unleash the tech from O&G.
There are many similarities—like the drill bit—between shale fracking and enhanced geothermal. Market structure is not one of them. If we want a shale-sized boom in geothermal, we need to replicate the market structure that got us there. New report out this morning:
