It’s been such a rewarding experience seeing Colorado agriculture from farm to table. Eating lunch at the Sunflour Cafe in Monte Vista was no different. Businesses like these are the heart of #CO03. If you ever stop by, check out their pies!

Continued the #CO03 farm tour this morning in Alamosa at the Brown family’s sheep ranch. Thanks to Wayne, Faye, and Dave for the warm welcome. We talked public lands grazing allotments, ag labor, and the need for fair trade for our woolgrowers. These are big issues in the San

Kicked off the 2025 Colorado State Fair with the Pueblo Chamber’s Legislative BBQ! A great chance to celebrate Colorado’s world-class agriculture community and the success of the State Fair. The “special session” kept many state legislators in Denver, and I’m especially grateful

Stopped in at Mauro Farms in Pueblo County, a fourth-generation family business with some of the best baked goods around. Their potica is amazing. The Mauro story is a classic Pueblo one: an Italian boy marries a Slovenian girl, and together they start a can’t-miss local

For more than 40 years, the Knapp family has been growing some of the best produce in Otero County. Owner Gail Knapp and her daughter, Alisha, shared what it takes to make it happen, including the rewards, the risks, and how government rules could work better. This #CO03 secret

Our next stop on the #CO03 farm tour was Hirakata Farms in Rocky Ford, a family operation that has been growing Rocky Ford cantaloupes in the Arkansas Valley for over 100 years. The care and dedication behind their work is evident in the incredible cantaloupes they’re known for.

My good friend and colleague from #CO05, @RepJeffCrank, is a Pueblo native. We met up in his hometown and stopped by some of his favorite spots, including Taffy’s, a true Pueblo tradition. Jeff’s very proud to be from this great #CO03 city, and I’m just as proud to represent it

One of the many good aspects of the One Big Beautiful Bill: expanding Pell Grants to cover the trades. Not every path to success runs through a 4-year college. This helps more Coloradans gain the skills for good-paying jobs that support families and strengthen our #CO03 economy.

Colorado’s wolf reintroduction isn’t some abstract policy: it’s hitting families, ranchers, and communities in #CO03 right now. I’ve raised this directly with the White House and Interior, and will continue fighting for rural Colorado.

At last week’s Colorado Chamber Congressional Luncheon, we were asked about permitting reform. Everyone in Washington loves to say “permitting reform.” But when it comes time to actually streamline the process, too often the government does what it does best: stall. That’s why.

The Compromise Mine has a storied history of silver mining right on Aspen Mountain. Stepping inside felt like traveling back to the late 1800s - when the average miner’s life expectancy was just 32 years (and I can see why!). I enjoyed exploring this historic site and look
