Really enjoyed this @Nature Book Review. “science is done best when it is approached from as many different angles as possible”. “it is not sufficient to hold up one woman from a period totally different from our own” #STEM #WomenInScience

Nature - Physicist Athene Donald’s research was dismissed as ‘cookery’. Now she’s written a primer on how to fight back.

This video also features poignant microscopy from Bera et al. Nature 2022, and Aceto et al. Cell 2014. Full video & references on YouTube. Please share/tag authors of the original studies. My videos are always a tribute to them 😊

Hope you’ll find this video useful as a primer for understanding recent advances in how we think about the metastatic process.

Last year, I saw Dr. Reinhart-King’s talk on how cell motility alone cannot predict metastatic potential. I thought her study was a wonderful demonstration of the complexities of cancer cell metastasis and the fluidity of cell states/phenotypes involved.

@MaxKrummel @SolvingForSci I’ve been playing with video formats for the past year and getting closer to what I thought should be possible: to link basic research to therapy thru featuring primary data, geared to non research audience. Your thoughts pls! 😊

If you are a researcher who contributed to this work, please say “hi” in the comments. I think it makes a huge difference to know that at the end of the day, we exist too within the larger community, that we want our work to be better understood too!

This video is far from comprehensive, but I hope it could be a starting point to bring the cellular/molecular level science to those who may be curious about how immune checkpoint inhibitors work but find it intimidating to understand.

There have been so much enlightening works in recent years that link cell death, macrophage biology, immune tolerance in the tumor microenvironment, and checkpoint blockade therapy. It’s been fascinating seething this big picture emerge.
