when guys on dating apps ask me who my favourite philosopher is i make up a random german sounding name. half of the time they “oh yeah i’ve read some of his stuff”
told a guy i was talking to on hinge that i’m into philosophy and want to do graduate studies and he was like oh you should read sapiens by yuval noah harari
fucking livid, just caught another guy taking photos of my at the gym. this is the second time in few weeks. from now i’m making a point to tweet everytime something like this happens because i don’t think men fully understand just how common it is.
to the people giving me dating advice thank you :) i am not making fun of a man trying to relate to my interests, i am saying this is funny because sapiens is a bad book :)

/ as to why men feel like they are entitled to such behaviour. YOU need to be having the conversation with your mates when they act fucking creepy. you need to start calling out other men. stop putting the onus on me and other women to rectify fucking weirdo behaviour
i know the responses telling me to report are well intentioned so thank you. but the point isn’t whether i report it or not. reporting only does so much. i’m making a point of publicising every incident like this because it starts a extremely necessary conversation /
“not all landlords are bad!!” okay but here are a bunch advocating for illegal evictions because they have decided the law and due process are too much of an inconvenience to them
You asked for it so we've delivered it. You can now book return journeys between Glasgow and Edinburgh with the return ticket valid for up to one month.
Travel any time of day for £30, or with off-peak travel it's just £18.40.
@GooseGooseMoose
i have obviously. but i’m making a point to document it as well because it needs to be discussed and i don’t think people understand how fucking annoying it is, cheers tho 🙃
need to preface this saying that i have a phil degree and hopefully will be a grad student come autumn. trust me i try not to talk philosophy irl for this reason!!!
this is getting muted because some of you are ridiculously annoying by calling me a "liar" or getting butthurt over "mEnS FeELinGs". ta to those for the kinda messages though! x
twitter laid me off today. if you know of any open positions for senior software engineers, let me know. i was the lead dev on the “your timeline refreshing before you finished reading that tweet” function
solidarity to fellow scot twitter people, for we will be witness to the most unhinged takes on colonialism from accounts like celticnationalist123 and sc0tlandl0v3rX in the coming hours
hi, australian here! here’s my top tips on how you can be annoying, patronising & unhelpful to people experiencing temperatures they never experience, in countries with infrastructure completely unequipped to deal with a heatwave of 40° C (🧵)
i'm leaving uni with roughly £35k worth of debt. If i manage to find job, i'd be lucky to get something around £22k a year. once you factor in rent, utilities debt repayment etc, I'm left with nothing. graduates nowadays are in a perpetual cycle of "earn to pay the debt"
banning menthols and 10 packs but not banning lemonade-skittle-peach-raspberry-explosion-fornite-slurp-juice vapes because of their appeal to young people is equally funny as it ridiculous
Wtf the NHS just called me personally and told me I needed to isolate immediately through Christmas and new years bc they found out one of the new symptoms of the virus is having a great personality & a big fat juicy ass
London tube drivers are paid 2 times as much as an A&E nurse on the NHS, and 20% more than an A&E graduate doctor. I abhor the greed of the RMT. Where is Thatcher when you need her?!
i can’t believe people are saying kids shouldn’t cycle. as cyclist who was hit by a bus & hasn’t been able to cycle for 6 months bc theyre still petrified & received little help from the police - cycling isn’t dangerous, it’s the hostile culture towards cyclists that is
well well well, if it isn’t the consequences of a dying NHS, an unregulated and exploitative housing market, stagnated wages, excessive student debt, climate change and over a decade of austerity
maybe some of you online leftists are going to have to go out and get involved in organising and mutual aid now instead of criticising literally everything on twitter oh no what a shame
i love that all the vaccination centres are 9-5. completely useless for those working in service industries/shift work who are more likely to be at higher risk at the moment
i got hit by a bus and went flying on princes street today whilst i was cycling home. i’m a bit scratched and bruised but i wouldn’t be alive if i wasn’t it weren’t for my helmet. please please PLEASE wear a helmet!!!!
love that mildly euphoric feeling of finally getting to a book after a couple of weeks of not reading. like why did i ever stop doing this. this is great
guys remember when everyone said the years following the pandemic would be like the roaring twenties with massive cultural boom and now we don’t have any fuel or gas for the coming winter
a country which wages war on garlic bread in a punitive, futile and ideologically conservative effort against obesity but doesn't secure the rights for tenants not to be further exploited by their landlord during a cost of living crisis isn't actually a very good one
is having undergrads address lecturers as Prof or Doctor an american thing? maybe it was just my department but everyone was referred to by their first name
i’ve been depressed since i was 14. this is the first time in ten years i feel like i’ve truly had a grasp on my mental health and actually feel alright for once. definitely not the sexiest year but certainly the most stable - and i’m so grateful for that
