Getting elected with 27.72% of the vote seems pretty close to the "25% of the vote" scenario mentioned here. Your move, @ChmnMendelson.

This is fantastic news. The will of the voters means the ENTIRE will of the voters, not just half!! Thank you @CMBrookePinto!!.

Also interesting: @CMBrookePinto is proposing an amendment to fund semi-open primaries in D.C., which was one half of Initiative 83. The other half, ranked-choice voting, is being funded separately. If this passes, D.C. would get RCV and semi-open primaries in 2026.

Trayon appears to have won with ~70% opposed, and fewer votes than an *actual ANC race* that took place back in 2020. We're sick of seeing this in DC. It's why I-83 passed overwhelmingly last November. You should need more votes than this if you want to represent ~75,000 people.

"As we know very well, we don't have Ranked Choice Voting in DC, and so that means all you gotta do is come out on top of a four-candidate race and a lot of people think [Trayon] can." - Alex Koma. If anyone says "it's a solution in search of a problem" about RCV ever again. 🙄.

I'll be on Politics Hour today talking the Ward 8 special election, the D.C. budget, RFK and much more! . Join us. you'll just have to sit through two congressmen first. Somehow I'm told they're more important than me.

Not only do the DC Democrats tarnish themselves by resisting RCV, but they're sticking their finger in the eyes of the more than 65% of their own REGISTERED DEMOCRATIC VOTERS (myself included!) that voted for Initiative 83.

Thank you to Brian Strege and the incredible Bellevue youth for helping us canvass in Navy Yard yesterday!. This is what coalition building looks like. This is what it means to unite all of Ward 8—bringing residents from opposite ends of the ward together for a common cause!

I'm SO glad that Alaska kept their nonpartisan blanket primary + RCV electoral system. Congratulations to the @No_On2AK team!. Relatedly, it's probably not the worst thing that Begich won, either. Republicans can certainly win under this system as long as they're not Sarah Palin.

In addition to Initiative 83's citywide margin - which was massive - it's on track to not only win every Ward, but to win every Ward by at least a 2-to-1 margin. Take note: a supermajority of every Ward's voters has just instructed the @councilofdc to implement I-83's reforms.

In addition to the three-candidate race for 6/8F02, we've got a three-candidate WRITE-IN race for 6/8F05. Nobody made it onto the ballot for the 6/8F05 ANC race so please write in either Liam Goodwin, Tori Collins, or Sam Sanders!! (And they all have easy-to-spell names!!)
