PSA to founders raising money. Fudging revenue numbers during a fundraise isn’t just a bad look. It can be a crime. Securities fraud is a real thing. If you falsify or mislead investors about your revenue numbers, you can go to jail. And on that note: 👇👀

Founders that lie to VCs or sort of fudge numbers sometimes think it's all a game But, it's securities fraud

One thing no one will tell you is how important integrity is for your climate startup. We live in an era where the myth is that good entrepreneurs create reality distortion. They fake it til they make it. That doesn’t work when you actually have to build stuff.

By watching Twitter operate in public, more people are learning a bit how a Board may have a hard time working with/helping a founder/CEO that might be over their head. It’s not just about being pro-founder or not. Sometimes it’s also about getting shit done, and competency.

When somebody lies and you don’t accost them or hold them accountable you are encouraging them to lie even more…because they think they are smart/sly enough to get away with it. For some people, lying is pathological.

"De La Soul Is Dead" trending for 2 straight days on Twitter because half the people actually think they are dead is maybe the most inception-level enactment of an album concept ever. Twitter rumors say @WeAreDeLaSoul is dead? Wait til 3/3/23 when the Daisy Age begins anew!! 🌼

120k+ tech layoffs so far in 2022. Climate tech, meanwhile, is booming. There's a great rotation in talent to be unlocked. Me, for @climate, with thanks to @paragkhanna and @conorsen for chat, @reinpk for posts, @ClimateDraft @Climatebase for resources

Transitioning into the expanding climate-tech sector could be the next step for some of the thousands who’ve recently lost their jobs.

As someone who’s actually built a consumer fintech, my reaction to this can be summarized neatly as WHAT THE F*CK, SBF https://t.co/t1h6QXA2ci

Failure doesn’t usually happen “to” startups. It happens when founders rationalize problems until it’s too late and put off dealing with their most profound challenges. The difference between success and failure is how quickly the startup engages its core problems.
