Life in LA rn: Wake up and clock in for your ICE Watch shift. Clock out and deliver groceries to your neighbors. Buy as much as you can from any street vendor you see. Recharge and strategize with your comrades. End the night loud as hell outside a hotel where ICE sleeps.

Thanks to its tenant unions, Los Angeles County could be on the verge of enacting an eviction moratorium to hit back against Donald Trump’s "mass deportation" raids.

The bigger danger in this moment isn’t cooptation or something but pro-revolutionaries not realizing that they’re at the head of a current movement that has moral and political support. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such widespread support for militancy in my lifetime.

Stop private equity from buying single-family homes. Instead, give young Americans low-interest mortgages & downpayment help to buy them. Homes for young families, not Wall Street. That’s new economic patriotism.

@BrentCebul and I argue for @phenomenalworld that we’ve tried the #abundance incentive-based approach to housing crises before. But lack of oversight produced fraud, profiteering, and inflated rents -- and the Trump family fortune. https://t.co/ujtH9nISBi

No sleep for ICE! The community showed up loud outside the Hampton Inn in Downer’s Grove, a Chicago suburb. After several Department of Homeland Security vehicles were identified in the property’s parking lot, protesters demanded the federal agents be kicked out of the hotel as

This is truly a disastrous decision - one that, should this country continues to exist over the coming decade, will be condemned by history alongside many of this evil institution's shameful decisions. It fixes a target on everyone who looks like me for good.

You are a fundamentally evil, morally and intellectually bankrupt ghoul. Please never write anything again to save yourself being a footnote in a future history of this moment as a coward who opened the political ground for monstrousness.

We should also explore other ideas like taxing immigrants more (higher tax bracket called "Save Social Security"?) and there should both be more awareness and more restrictions on the federal benefits immigrants can access to alleviate concerns from US born citizens.

one last thing: “Abundance” is being used in CA against just-cause eviction protections for tenants returning to wildfire-ravaged communities. no, not rent control. just *telling someone why they’re being evicted.* if that’s not mindless deregulation, I don’t know what is 🤷🏽‍♀️

We’re launching a new task force to clear encampments, restore public spaces, and connect people with shelter and services. California is taking action by reducing unsheltered homelessness and outperforming the nation in slowing this crisis.

What to expect in Chicago most likely: 1) big flashy kickoff raids, likely prodding for national guard activation; 2) ICE handling targeted and indiscriminate roving snatches in small mobile teams; 3) large CBP forces doing raids on big targets like Home Depots.

Skid Row resident Adrienne Villa was the person who died in LASD custody. She was arrested by LAPD on 6/12 @ 7am + by CHP on 6/13 @ 5am. She was facing charges for alleged assault/battery on a cop. Both arrests may have happened during Karen Bass' curfew. We need answers!
