Apparently this video has all of X in a frenzy. If it had come out before the AI era, people would be fawning over it as great art, but now they are so clicker trained that any mention of AI sends them into a verbiage frenzy and they anoint anything AI related as slop.

Politically I’ve never been a fan of the themeparkification of the 90s that Stern happily participated in but, having been a child during that time, I have still been indelibly shaped by it

An architect I’ve always been critical of but whose work cemented postmodernism as a cultural phenomenon in the American mind — especially in the minds and memories of two generations of American children.

Just heard that Robert AM Stern died. One of the last PoMo giants. Was obsessed with his drawings and early interiors when I was in high school. Sad to hear.

The bigger scandal is that so dire a poem was so widely celebrated, even praised -- especially by people who betrayed their critical faculties to do so.

absolutely phenomenal piece by rahad z. wehbe. encapsulates a lot of my feelings around lib identity focus wrt art and the shallow engagement with the form that merely reinforces racist tokenization. worth the read

I’m thankful for everyone who has supported my work and helped and encouraged me while I’ve been brain injured and sick. It means the world to me and I have no words.

There’s an urbanism account that treads into architecture content sometime that I find deeply annoying and seemingly stupid but since we can’t talk shit on this website anymore I have to keep it to myself. Just know that I am annoyed.

"Isn’t it a step forward, politics becoming openly hysterical, godly, content-free, the last air pumped out of the inter-state vacuum? You’re not regretting the exit of the grown-ups from the room, are you? Remember who they were. Remember what they did."

Our team @mstodaynews, @nytimes & @reveal spent 10+ months interviewing >70 former inmates, former guards & deputies of a Mississippi jail. We discovered a pervasive culture of brutality, including inmates being ordered to beat other inmates. And it went straight to the top. 1/9

It's the season of giving, why not splurge to help others? @archipelagobks has a holiday sale and book drive; libraries and prisons will receive matching donations. No press nurtures new and insanely talented translators like Archipelago. I trust their quality; check them out!

Ultimately one probably has to understand Adorno hate as resistance to the idée fixe that runs through all of his writing from the 20s until his death: that there is inescapable suffering everywhere and that it need not go on for another second.
