LA rent relief is coming. But as immigration raids continue, it might not close the gap. Tenant organizers are still pressuring County leadership to pass an eviction moratorium. https://t.co/83TwLQm4yy

The Trump admin has been clear that its mass deportation agenda relies not just on detentions but on making life so impossible for immigrants that they choose to self-deport. @LACountyBOS's inaction has worked hand in glove with ICE to bring that strategy to life.

A speaker from the Rent Brigade shared the story of Magda, a street vendor who felt she had no choice but to self-deport after receiving six eviction notices, leaving behind a daughter who cannot receive adequate medical care in Guatemala. She may never see her in person again.

Today LA City Council voted to strengthen the LA rent stabilization law, so that increases will be 1-4% depending on inflation instead of the current rule, 3-8%. This will affect hundreds of thousands of households. Congrats & thank you to everyone who fought so hard to win this!
