Harvard chemist and molecular biologist David Liu invented gene editing tools that can correct and rewrite defective genes. His research could one day help hundreds of millions of people with genetic diseases, including sickle cell and muscular dystrophy. https://t.co/YgmqXkMouW

I don’t even have jokes anymore, I’m just so tired of politicians’ disdain for transit riders. Every day the Gateway tunnel project is delayed is another day rail riders are literally left stranded (including ME)

Neurons transmit signals through synaptic vesicle release, but the nanoscale dynamics of this process have been unclear. In a new Science study, researchers report using time-resolved cryo–electron tomography to visualize synaptic vesicle dynamics in situ and propose a unified

Useful look at how leucovorin has and hasn’t been studied in relation to autism traits:
The FDA wants to expand the use of leucovorin to treat autism traits, based on an analysis of the scientific research. @_TheTransmitter has obtained the list of 23 studies. By @claulopezneuro

“I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that the list did not include multiple studies on why vaccines cause autism,” says Brian Lee about the newly awarded Autism Data Science Initiative projects. By @callimcflurry

An atypical funding mechanism, short timeline and opaque review process had generated concern over the quality of projects that would be selected.

Several MRI artifacts contribute to the neuronal activity signal picked up by the method, according to a preprint the authors posted this month.

The results from a new longitudinal study contradict classic findings in monkeys but may not warrant a rewriting of the textbooks just yet.

Senate Appropriations has a modest *INCREASE* in NIH funding but it will need to be recconciled with the house cut. If you have not been calling your representative of late now would be a good time to start again https://t.co/uYcmil8Bcb

The NIH budget would INCREASE by $400m — not slashed by 40%, as Trump proposed — in a proposal by Senate appropriators, says Sen Murray. "Some have asked if there will even be an NIH by [2029]. The commmittee's resounding message is yes—Congress has your back", she says.

FYI @SenatorCollins @PattyMurray..NIH is not giving out funds to Alzheimer's disease research..despite your recent senate hearing emphasizing this as a priority!
Just got told by my NIA PO that I should probably resubmit my R01 (by July 5 lol), even though it scored a 10% and is on Alzheimer’s disease. Last year’s NIA paylines were 13% for regular R01s and 16% for AD grants..so WTF?! 😭🫠
