Counting it into their "true" "income" tax rate is pretty misleading. If an individual had to sell 30% of their stock it'd just crash.

@avalonpenrose Shorting:. When you short a stock you’re betting that it’ll fall in price. So you borrow the security from someone who already owns it and then immediately sell them. Then once the price falls you can buy the shares back return them to the seller and pocket the difference.

I was inspired by my friends @suhasasumukh and @tylerbruno05 to #learninpublic. I'll be learning math instead of ML though. Day 1 (1 hour). I reviewed limits. Luckily I remembered most of what I learned in class a couple years ago, but I might have gotten a little rusty 😜

@jon_prosser I think his point is that it sort of defeats the purpose of using an iPhone in the first place. If you have the budget for 100s of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and lighting, why not just go a little bit further and get a great camera too?.

Also, Greg Maxwell's logic of there are "no ratios present" is incomplete too, because the function f(x) doesn't need to be a value that x is multiplied by. The function can be any manipulation of the x value.

@avalonpenrose Let’s say I think a stock that’s currently trading at $20 will fall. So I borrow it from someone who owns the stock, sell it and then wait for it to fall. I have to return it in 1 month and a month later it falls to $4. I can now buy it for $4 and return it and make a $16 profit.

A lot of people force themselves to expect rejection/ failure so that they feel better in case it doesn't work out. I think the opposite is better. Be delusional. And just move on fast if you get rejected. Expecting rejection will only make you stressed and slow you down.

The biggest thing I've learned over the past four years is that you can just build/do whatever you want. You don't need to know how. Just start and you can figure it out along the way.

most important thing I learned this week: . being spontaneous. I used to schedule video calls days out when someone wanted to talk to me because of perceived anxiety. I've now started saying "sending a gcal invite for 10 minutes from now!" and haven't looked back.
