(Thread) In the first What If? book, I answered a question about cooking a steak by dropping it from space. At one point, I commented—jokingly!—that if anyone put a steak in a hypersonic wind tunnel to gather better data, I’d love to see the video. Well, I have good news.

What I will mourn the most from Twitter is how I was able to, over time, create a diverse but curated timeline filled with a combo of math, statistics, teaching, dataviz, math art, NYC news, social justice, and related posts. It’s going to be hard to recreate somewhere else.

Twitter right now is like most schools. Absolutely tone deaf management but somehow the talents of the limited number of staff doing an amazing job keeping everything functioning anyway.

Weekend project = Mastodon sign up, I guess. Am I the last to migrate over? Where are all the math and stats Twitter people landing? Any recommendations for being able to preserve as many follows and followers as possible?

Hey can I be grumpy for a second? Ppl are always claiming that phi is the "most irrational" number (e.g., https://t.co/KlK0TRwPwP, https://t.co/qHKqEj8UNE, https://t.co/amqHgnYIut). This is bs. 1/

Another thing I said that didn’t make into the article is that teachers need communities of professional support so they can share resources and learn from each other. #mtbos #edchat https://t.co/VMDiZ0bKyX
