#OTD 1957 the Times Daily, Hammond Indiana introduces the term GIGO “garbage in-garbage out…part of the workday vocabulary of the military mathematicians who man the Army’s electronic computors [sic]”. GIGO is still a major concern for AI and ML models. /3

2/The most famous story about him forms the story line of the movie “Good Will Hunting”. He arrived late to a lecture of Jerzy Neyman, saw 2 problems on the blackboard, thought they were a homework assignment (“a bit more difficult than usual”) & solved them in a few days.
