On the flip side, Al Gore is the best-performing modern Dem. presidential candidate in much of Rhode Island (it was his best state in the nation!). Obama did best in heavily Hispanic Providence, while Biden ran ahead of both in each of RI's six most college-educated towns.
With its high white ethnic population, R.I. has become less Dem. of late; in most of the state, Trump is the best-performing modern GOPer. The Yankee bastion of Newport stands out, as do the state's two highest-college towns, Barrington & Jamestown. Romney nowhere to be seen.

Good rundown from @lxeagle17. This new data helps confirm it: low-college whites voted almost the same in 2020 and 2024. These places got WAY more Republican from 2012 to 2016, but have stabilized since.
The 2024 election was even weirder than we thought, @lxeagle17 of @SplitTicket_ writes.

He’s outdone himself again. @Thorongil16, you are a force of nature!.
It's out! 80 years ago, in 1945, when WW II ended, East Prussia was wiped out. Historically the area was German but with sizable Lithuanian, Polish, and Masurian minorities. I have digitized the *entire* East Prussian census of 1905. Read more for never before seen maps:🧵

The answer is Atlanta! Never underestimate how few immigrants live in the Deep South (plus, as an astute commenter pointed out, the first-gen communities in that area live in the suburbs). SLC - 15.4% foreign-born.Nashville - 15.1.Columbus - 14.4.Atlanta - 8.6.
Today's demographics trivia:. Three of these cities have about the same foreign-born %, but one is significantly lower. Which is it?. Nashville.Atlanta.Salt Lake City.Columbus.
