This is super easy, not some autistic super genius thing You just cross your eyes and overlap the two images And the diff shows up as flashing in your eyes I learnt this with those fake 3d magazines you could get as a kid, 2 images and then you cross your eyes to see the 3d

This strange square 👇 is undoubtedly the most extraordinary work of literature in human history. Yet, unfortunately, barely anyone in the West has ever heard of it. There was this woman poet in 4th century China called Su Hui (蘇蕙), a child genius who had reportedly mastered

And so I find myself thinking a lot about horses, nowadays. In 1920, there were 25 million horses in the United States, 25 million horses totally ambivalent to two hundred years of progress in mechanical engines. And not very long after, 93 percent of those horses had

i saw this meme on my feed I spent tons of time searching for it Then I realised We live in a high actuation world, I can just generate the meme I want, rather than search for it whenever you reach for a search tool, ask yourself. Can I build it instead

i hope other labs follow suit and integrate engineers sensitive to alignment in every part of training in practice opus does seem more aligned than other models and that is not something to be dismissed

Second: Alignment researchers are involved in every part of training. We don't have a clear split between alignment research and applied finetuning. Alignment-focused researchers are deeply involved in designing and staffing production training runs.

I love the 2 x 2 Where X axis is precision, targetability and Y is scalability, range the thing with walking is you can be quite adaptive, you can pick your trajectory and flexibily adapt but you struggle to cover a lot With trains you get scale but its rigid Cars are live!

3. Trains vs Cars When Kuil and I were with the autopilot example, this one popped up. Trains impose a rigid structure on humans - one has to go to a train station, travel through preset paths. In that story, cars are a move towards liveness. They adapt more to our flows.

1 : "enquiry" has more connection to the Old French "enquerre" (to ask about, to explore) while "inquiry" comes from Latin "inquirere" (to seek into). I like the open-ended version more.

But to me it stands as an example of the kind of questions I want to be unafraid to think about and seriously consider. Trusting my epistemics in a world where your attention is constantly under attack.

I have noticed others embodying their names in surprising ways once I started to carefully check. But there are false positives too, and so this is not something definitive that I strongly believe.

But I am now increasingly warm to the idea that I do embody the traits of my name. As the sun god Surya gives us boundless energy and light, I tend to be happy, energetic, golden retriever energy.

Nominative determinism was the kind of idea that I dismissed quite quickly when I first heard about it. It is low status among people who value their own rationality to seriously consider woo ideas.

I want to reject the premise that I am an optimiser that must have terminal goals. I wish to be fully sensitive to my context, be so open to reality that I allow it to inform how I can act skillfully, with confidence that I am fulfilling my purpose in an ongoing manner.

Another reason I picked Dao was because of the associations of the word in the Xianxia novels I read. The protagonists of these web novels undergo challenges that test their convictions against reality, and time and time again, their “path” shifts in response to their experiences
