2 fossil fuel projects have had their planning killed in 1 day. Following an oil well having planning permission quashed, the same thing has just happened to the proposed Whitehaven coal mine in Cumbria. Both cases a direct result of this ruling last month.
This could be start of avalanche of decisions against planning approvals for UK fossil fuel projects. In June the Supreme Court ruled approval of an oil well failed to account for the climate impact of burning the oil. The precedent has now derailed a separate oil well in Lincs.
