Up to 115 post offices could be at risk at closure and thousands of jobs lost as a result. But this is only one option being considered - we can still tell the Government to scrap the plans.

This week the Guardian announced they will no longer post on X (formally Twitter). At 38Degrees we’re debating whether we should do the same. What do you think? Should we leave X? Are you considering it?

Post offices are hugely important community hubs and employers. From passport applications to withdrawing cash and returning online orders, people still depend on their local post office. Especially in rural communities. Closures and job losses are the wrong approach.

Desperate hospitals having to pay eye-watering sums to opportunistic companies not only costs tax-payers billions every year but pulls experienced staff from the NHS. Ending this practice would be a huge step in the right direction.

Water is a human right not a commodity. No one should have to worry about being able to afford their water bill.

Liz Truss was able to send 32 people to the House of Lords - that’s one peer for every 1.5 days she served. No wonder the Liberal Democrats want to scrap this system.

400,000 people are currently thought to be waiting for care services. 81% of councils are set to overspend their adult social care budgets. Now charities estimate they will face an additional bill of £1.4bn as a result of the rises in National Insurance.

Over 100 people were invited to the “bring-your-own-booze” event in Downing Street during the first lockdown. Honouring the person who organised those drinks is a profound insult to all those who shielded, died and grieved in isolation during lockdown.

We need to be reducing fossil fuel consumption by 9% every year. Last year there was still growth of 1.3%. It’s not really a mystery why at this point.

This is a growing and dangerous problem. Last year, over twice as many officers were dismissed compared to four years ago. This included 18 who were sacked for possessing indecent images of children and 33 for abusing their position for a sexual purpose.

Big supermarkets can easily afford the National Insurance increases for employers without hiking prices for shoppers. These highly profitable companies should pay their fair share.
