Historical side note: what embeddings do is mostly a technical realization of structuralist theories of languages (meaning stems from word association). Unsurprisingly Tomas Mikolov’s academic genealogy goes back straight to Roman Jakobson.
@Dorialexander A deux doigts de découvrir le structuralisme linguistique et les cooccurrences... 🤣

I am not evangelically inclined, but every time I am able to persuade someone who spends a lot of time at the command-line to bind Ctrl-R to fzf, I feel I have done something good with my life. It is the single biggest productivity boon I've stumbled across in the last decade!

Another day, another student confused by an OCaml error message raised at the wrong location. Just say NO to nonlocal type inference!

Question for Sinhala users: do you prefer to sort consonant letters with the miśra additions interleaved with those from the śuddha set, or do prefer to sort śuddha set first and then the miśra additions afterwards? #Sinhala

An Introduction to Interpreters and JIT Compilation https://t.co/KF7sYb8cxH Last week, I attended PLISS and had great time. In my own lectures, I talked, probably unsurprisingly, about how one can build interpreters, and how JIT compilation works. 😀 Slides in the blog post.

if someone is a speaker of Saxon varieties, are they a Saxophone? since there's Low and Upper Saxon varieties, i suppose a speaker of Upper Saxon is an Altosaxophone
one thing i adore about English is the language's obsession with unpredictable words for "speaker-of-language-X" that take the form of "Latin prefix + Greek suffix '-phone'", such as "Anglophone", "Francophone", "Lusophone".
