It is not. The saying originates from a time when kettles were polished metal, and pots were cast iron. The pot, seeing its own reflection in the shiny tin kettle, calls the kettle black.

The pot is correct when it calls the kettle black.

So many little aspects of our culture reveal an attitude towards pregnancy as a 1 time thing that may affect a single year of life, or 2 if you’re bold, and then ends, rather than a natural and recurring part of a long life stage women go through for decades.

I have thought that if I make it to my 90s I might try a little sokushinbutsu as a personal challenge. Not for religious reasons of course, more just to prove I can (I’m sure I cannot)

I’ll pick on eigen here because he will know I’m not picking on him and anyway this is a common sentiment: nobody is walking into any blizzards, nobody’s putting a pillow over their dad’s face, nobody’s committing Seppuku. We can just look out at the world and see that these

Something about Saturn makes me uncomfortable. It’s captivating, but I’ll see pictures like this from James Webb and I start sweating a little bit. Unsettled in a visceral way.

My mom used to make practice my penmanship by copying passages from the Tao (as a punishment lol) and I roasted it so hard she swore off eastern philosophy for like a decade

@ZyMazza No, rich people are on average more intelligent, empathetic, emotionally mature and all around better people than the poor. This is obvious if you've spent any amount of time interacting with both.

If @Telegraph were to tell this story from the child’s perspective 25 years from now. I came into the world already loving someone I would never know. For nine months, I grew beneath the heartbeat of a woman named Carole-Anne, the only person who ever truly kept me safe. I

I was using chat gpt to flesh out some of my theories in harmonic resonance to solve the hard problem of consciousness thermodynamically and it occurred to me maybe I was losing it. But no worries! I double checked and the research can continue 💪🥰

I don’t think rich people have more empathy it’s just rich people are more likely to have been poor once than the reverse

rich people have vastly more empathy for poor people than the other way around and no honest person who has paid any attention to the discourse around wealth and poverty can deny this

The psyop is that the Cowells and Gateses of the world are gifting their children millions in education and housing and they will still inherit something. But normies see this and donate their last $25k to the dog shelter so their 40 year old children grow up “tough”

This is one of the most evil psyops out there Focused on destroying families, & especially destroying new wealth It is deeply evil, and people who leverage these tactics rather than endorsing strong families as a civilizational pillar are commie statists who must be destroyed

I’m against violence because it’s the last worst resort. Once you decide to solve a problem with violence, except for the narrowest circumstances most likely involving the intercession of a literal saint, the only way out is through, and you have foreclosed nonviolent solutions

I'm against violence, but not because it's scary or whatever. It's just logical - you can't always be ready for it. Even if you sacrifice *everything* about your life to train and always be in peak shape, you'll still have to sleep. Violence is bad because it's just inefficient.

I’m generally against plastic slop clothing, but even I have to admit that sometimes you encounter a polyester garment that’s so well made for it’s purpose it puts the finest silks to shame
