A medium-sized autobiography to help you understand what I’m about: -grew up homeschooled in what I call wave 2 (00s/10s) in the Southeast -grew up with 2 subcultural influences: UMC striver and conservative Christian homeschool subcultures, that were at odds with the

Humidifier is such a cool Phineas and Ferb name for an environmental modulator device. What if we called a furnace a hotifier or a an air filter a de-pollutifier?

Look I know movie costumers aren’t gonna put her in the TJ maxx floral jersey blouse/ stretch capris combination that 70 something church ladies actually wear, but, c’mon, if the same outfit could also be worn by Miranda Priestly in the new Devil Wears Prada movie, it’s not right

My most original Knives Out 3/Wake Up Dead Man is that we *must* start hiring semiotic stylists- there has to be a different way to dress a 70 year old church lady character than in Perpetual Victorian Grandma attire.

it’s at this really sweet nexus between Public Library and daycare (is this the privatization of public goods striking yet again? Maybe but I’ve seen people do whipits at our library location so…) There are caregivers on site paying attention but parents have to stay there too.

Very excited to discover this awesome playroom/ parent lounge with memberships in Lakeview. Includes drip coffee and wifi for parents, toys and activities for kids, community events, and is very reasonably priced. Kinda making me excited about being a city mom in Chicago!

Two pro-family (and pro-stay-at-home-parent) changes I'd like to see to the tax code: 1) If you're part of a household where one parent works and the other doesn't, the parent who works should be able to contribute 2x cap to a 401k. Right now 2 working parents can save ~$45k a

Important context on my tweet… you have to understand my mom. A few things in my parents’ condo… Georgia O’Keefe prints, a dark green ceramic bowl she calls the “shrunken head bowl” because she was studying anthropology when she received it, an antique family Singer sewing
A real generational gap is if I tell my friends to buy me pretty spoons they will get some cool Japanese ceramics from a vintage popup or handcarved olive wood but if I tell my mom to buy me pretty spoons she will get Pretty Spoons 37 pack natural bamboo from CHOUSHAOZI for $9.99

the whole premise is that it’s quieter than a motorized treadmill but the dB level is basically the same! a much better selling point would be the beautiful natural materials

It’s weird but also slightly amazing to experience this childrearing myopic shift for the first time. It’s very different from how I usually think and operate.

Everything big and strategic and long term gets tiny and everything local and immediate gets huge. It’s what drives nesting, it’s what makes you averse to new experiences (including new foods), it’s what makes you overestimate the interest of others in details of your pregnancy.

Pregnancy is the process of going from a wide context window to a very narrow context window, that widens again as your new child gets older.
I feel like pregnancy is making ALL of my taste slightly blander and not just the tastebud kind My aesthetic sense feels a little bit duller too! I’m less adventurous right now

5. Don’t psych yourself out about invitations, either sending or receiving. If you want to invite someone to something, do. If someone invites you to something, go. Stop overthinking it. It’s way too easy to think up all these motives or judgments or social games, ignore that.

4. Stop doing things alone and find ways to do things with other people in a way that is recurring. This is not unique to weird girls, this is just a general friendship tip that everyone is reluctant to do. I really don’t care what the activity is, but you have to go do something
