I cannot give my son his epilepsy meds in hospital unless a nurse hands them to me and then stands over and observes I’ve been administering them for 26 yrs Is this #InstitutionalParentCarerBlame what are concerned about? Whats the issue? Is it the complaints I’ve made? 🧵

@mhh02 @YorkDisability Yes and will continue to be until we get full Civil Rights. I could write you a thesis as to why I believe things are actually going backwards but suffice to say that whilst what is ‘reasonable’ is mediated through the cost of equity, we’ll just be fighting for crumbs.

'Incentivising work' or instilling fear? How making the benefits system meaner has backfired https://t.co/v1qUZkkdkE
@Z2K_trust
bigissue.com
New research from Z2K shows that a punitive benefits system pushes people away from work and harms the economy in the process.

Good luck from all in York this week 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The Disability Discrimination Act became law thirty years ago today, replaced by the Equality Act in 2010. Appropriate then that I have spent the whole day preparing a case of disability discrimination that will be heard in Court next week. Solidarity ✊

@GSwinburn @YorkDisability @marksandspencer The Equality Act is far from perfect. It relies on individual disabled people taking cases & M&S have clearly not applied any learning from my win against them over their Vanguard store across the rest of their estate, as others have already pointed out. ☹️

@flickhwilliams @YorkDisability Flick - I spoke with @marksandspencer York central manager Tom/Tim again raising the concern re the floor bins- some have been removed in the milk area- but most remain- repeated the concern- he accepted says he was taking it up the line. It is also hard for the shelf staff too.

@benn_elisbenn @flickhwilliams @YorkDisability @theyorkmix @yorkpress @daviddunninguk @JoeGerrard4 Agree totally. I am ashamed of the city in which I was born. No way can I ever consider visiting again since recent times despite being a regular visitor for decades. We need legal action to challenge this overt discrimination.

Something new is on its way... Years in the making, shaped by love, challenge, and Ella’s quiet lessons. We don’t have to agree on everything to find our shared humanness again. If you want to be a part of that: https://t.co/LfjqMLWLMu

Historic buildings can be made #accessible, take these 22 churches in Islington for example.

The 'Accessibility Roadmap' was finally released this week, accompanying the Railways Bill. It was supposed to be a long-term plan with timescales to full rail accessibility, as demanded by the @TransportCttee. Instead, the Roadmap: ◾️ Includes just minor commitments until 2027

Sets out actions government is taking to make railways more accessible, leading up to the establishment of Great British Railways (GBR).
