“When you start reading about yourself and believing your own press clippings is when you start to fall . . . When you’re not hungry, you become average!” (Kirby Smart)
Bill Belichick talking with Nick Saban on the simple reason they lost a game.
Sometimes, the reason is just this simple.
Let's not overcomplicate things!
“It’s a lot more fun when you can coach guys that love ball. That love the weight room. That value education. That want to be coached. That want to be empowered. That want to grow as a man.”
- Dabo Swinney

KELVIN SAMPSON ON BAD SHOOTERS
“A lot of times people lie to a kid: 'You're a good shooter. Keep shooting.'
'No, you're not. Don't.'
'Well, you're hurting his confidence.'
"I don't want to build a bad shooter's confidence up."

"Practicing hard is a choice. Watching extra film is a choice. Lifting weights, being coachable, and going to class are a choice. Your choices here are going to force me to either play you, or sit you on the bench. You’ll get exactly what you want." (Pat Summitt)

your response speaks loudly when you resort to profanity and name-calling ... things someone does when they have no real argument to stand behind. As a co-founder and Chairman of a large company, we'd hope that you'd display more wisdom, tolerance, and leadership than this.
KOBE BRYANT ON MENTAL TOUGHNESS
💬 “Being mentally tough means you can take your mind someplace else.
Concentrate on that other thing to the point where the thing that was bothering you is no longer a focus and you don’t feel it anymore.”

PARENTS: Your kid's coach is not the enemy. Even if you disagree with them, they can still have a positive impact on your kid as long as you don't sabotage it. Let them do their job. Don't be a distraction.

“If you go to class & you do average work - you get a C - that’s why it’s called average. If you want a B - you have to do more work. If you want an A you have to do even more work. You have to give up stuff - you have to sacrifice.”

NEGATIVE BODY LANGUAGE LETS
• Your opponents know they have the upper hand
• Your teammates know your selfish
• Recruiters know you can't handle adversity
• Random spectators form opinions about you
Nothing good comes from negative BL.

Student-athletes who skip class, hide in the weight room, disrespect teachers, and make excuses are bad teammates. How you do one thing, is how you’ll do everything. You can’t flip the switch. Being a winner is about being consistently good.

"In 5th grade, coach kicked me out of practice. Mom took me home, beat my ass and said you'll never play if you ever do it again. I'm thankful. She didn't say he's mean or try to justify my actions. That would've created a monster." (Keith Van Horn)
