I’ll ignore the cringeworthy nature of this tweet & focus instead on the policy. I have questions for those who support it: 1. We currently have a teacher recruitment / retention crisis in this country. Do you think people will suddenly rush to want to become teachers, just

In response to the angry replies below here are some more thoughts: The fact that I am questioning the risks of this war does not make me an appeaser. Arguing for peace does not make me an apologist for Hezbollah or the Iranian regime. ( I have spent longer in Iran and seen

Some thoughts on Israel-Lebanon-Hezbollah-Iran in our latest podcast below - and why things are escalating in this way. In particular • The military success against Hezbollah does not = a political strategy • Other Arab nations + many Lebanese hate Hezbollah • BUT many

We spend £££ on cycle paths to benefit the environment - at the expense of the environment! The carnage is even worse than it looks on Evesham Rd. Why rip out mature hedgerows to replace them with hedgerow that can’t and won’t sustain much wildlife for years? So much for BNG!

Cranleigh, a Surrey independent school will *only* pass on a 12% VAT raise to parents. They managed to save on the 8% by abolishing all bursaries & free places & stopping free use of facilities to local youth groups, in order to recoup costs of maintenance. Nice one Labour.

In opposition Keir Starmer railed against gifts for Boris Johnson (“cash for curtains”), Rishi Sunak’s predilection for using private jets and a Downing Street of “cronies”. Since taking power we’ve learned Starmer and his wife have been gifted clothes (and specs too in his

@christopherhope If 800,000 people, or even a large proportion of them, receive Pension Credit, and, then Winter Fuel Allowance, that will wipe out all the savings Labour said they had to make to stop an economic collapse..

Some Old Etonian chef with zero economic or tax expertise drivelling on BBC One @BBCNews about how a 1% wealth tax would raise over £15 billion a year. Complete nonsense. Ask Sweden. Or France. Or Spain. Of course his nonsense goes unchallenged.

@BBCBreakfast WASPI shouldn't receive a penny of taxpayers' money in "compensation". The announcement to increase state pension age from 60 was made in 1993, over 30 years ago. Lots of WASPI women aren't "struggling", many/most repeat the same stories that have been doing the rounds for years.

@BBCBreakfast @BBCPolitics I’m a waspi woman myself but I’m afraid your delusional if you think this government will compensate us. They took away winter fuel allowance. They just won’t do it, we don’t have any leverage. @WASPI_Campaign

Untruth piled upon untruth. This is the results of an auction process started by the Tories in March. Their 2023 auction round produced no deals because the subsidies were not big enough. So they increased the subsidises for the 2024 round. Hence the take up under you, even

The results are in, and the Government has secured a record-breaking 131 new clean energy projects in the latest renewable auction round. This Government inherited a broken energy policy and we’re acting immediately to fix it, with the most successful auction round ever 🧵👇

@JimmyOKeefe @gloshospitals @GlosCC Honestly, I’m more worried abt A&E sit. Trust cynically decided to close Chelt A&E to ambulances whilst there no MP because of Election. It’s now more difficult to overturn. But Max isn’t making much noise abt it; he needs to. We need Chelt A&E. Diverting to Bristol ludicrous .

It was disheartening to hear misrepresentations going unchallenged, such as consultations that lack credibility, or the opacity and secrecy of pre-app discussions. They spent more time waffling about insect sightings on camping holidays than any conservation or heritage matters.

Meanwhile the block of flats has no parking, can’t have on street parking permits, and the town has lost hundreds of town centre parking spaces. Developer says he’s done a deal for discounted season ticket on adjacent car park. But that’s up for sale - for resi redevelopment!

So why didn’t Labour oppose the cuts in NI? Or refuse to reverse them? If, as you claim, NI created the black hole then Labour was complicit. You can throw around all the smears and epithets and inaccuracies you want. But your lot are now in power and it’s incumbent on people
