And for those of you that didn't want to believe it here it is. The UK is bottom of the league when it comes to European bathing water quality standards. 🤬

Thanks to England's privatised water, the whole of the UK is rated the dirtiest water in Europe. They should be in prison for the rest of their lives.

Our CEO @gilesbristow on Ofwat's draft determinations - Today, Ofwat has signed off on us all swimming and surfing in sewage pollution beyond 2030. The general election campaign made clear that we are all fed up with those in power turning a blind eye to the sewage scandal.

Great article by @OliverBullough on the Kafkaesque situation faced by people trying to protect the River Wye. Every way they turn, someone says no.

To protect our local river we had to prove it was being used for swimming. But that, bizarrely, is the reason we were rejected, says author Oliver Bullough

Thanks to 6 months of flooding, we like many other farms will have no wheat this year. What we managed to drill has rotted and fields are still flooded in mid April. That this govt has decided to implement Brexit checks now as we are facing food shortages needs to be

🆘 Costly Brexit import checks on EU fresh produce, set to roll out at the end of the month, will result in less availability and higher prices of fruit & veg. 🆘 This would in turn make it harder for shoppers to access and afford fresh goods, risking public health!

"Anglian Water reports biggest rise in sewage discharges." It was the rain, the wrong kind of snow, it was Mr Jones at 75 Arcadia Avenue with irritable bowel syndrome or maybe it was the fact we paid our shareholders £4.769bn in dividends since 2012? 🤬 https://t.co/O26mO0YAhu

The company says the increase is due to better monitoring and "exceptional" rainfall.

Just caught up on this story. A decision that reduces our choices of viewing. So BBC what were the actual numbers of people calculated to be affected and what was the cost figure? BBC News - BBC iPlayer to end programme downloads for PCs and Macs https://t.co/M4aHyubH3d

Now here's a proper announcement @Defrauk / @ofwat. Just installed in Whitstable 'Sirens of Sewage' by the brilliant @JasondeCairesT An announcement worth celebrating. 👋👋👋 Once the minister is finished hobnobbing with fat cat WC CEOs in the SW I can arrange a visit for him.

In Antarctica, I saw for myself & heard from scientists how ice loss is accelerating in dangerous ways. Climate change is wreaking havoc. Fossil fuels are the main culprit. At #COP28, leaders must act to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C & end the fossil fuel age.
