I visited The Wilderness Centre in Mitcheldean this morning. I met with the team and was pleased to hear that their aim is to remain true to its history and place in the community by providing exceptional day and residential visits for schools from all phases and settings.

10#10 Finally, I would like to thank residents for their patience while we have been setting this up. The words of support have been warmly received.

8#10 I will be making an appointment to my Office Manager vacancy on Monday and other appointments will be made over August. As a reminder, casework should not be raised via social media.

7#10 It has only been 4 weeks since I was elected but we have had so much to do in those first 4 weeks, with no office and no staff. This is not unique to me and is the same for each and every new MP.

6#10 So, in addition to the office, I will be looking to make bookings at community spaces across all of the constituency, where residents can book appointments to see me locally to where they live. More on this will follow.

5#10 We are hoping to have this done by the end of next week. I am also aware that I represent constituents from all over the Forest and as I promised in my campaign, I do not want anybody to be unable to visit me due to the location of my office (both temporary and permanent).

4#10 It should be noted that is not as simple as picking an office and signing an agreement. There are legal checks, security and Police checks, IPSA checks (to ensure public money is spent appropriately) that all need to be signed off before we can sign the agreement.

3#10 The contracts are being checked by the legal teams and once we have everything confirmed we will be able to let people know where this is and the opening date. This initial office base is a temporary base.

2#10 Because I know it's important that constituents have somewhere to visit and speak to their MP, while we do not have a formal long term office in place as yet (this is being worked on) we have taken the decision to agree to a short term let for an office in Coleford.

1#10 Sorry for the long post. I am aware of constituents queries regarding our new office and surgeries. I'd like to reassure constituents we are actively looking to sort this. It is one of a number of things that new MP's need to arrange.

This will immediately help bring down waiting lists in the Forest of Dean and Gloucestershire by putting an end to the ongoing strikes. The last government failed to stop the strikes and let patients suffer the consequences. Under Labour, we'll get on with the job of delivering.

A busy first day attending briefings and finding my way around the maze that is the House of Commons. All Labour MPs, new and returning, managed to get together for the first time as well. Let the week continue

Getting to work as the Forest of Dean’s MP I am in the process of setting up my office, which will be up and running to help residents and organisations across the constituency as soon as possible. Please note that responses to emails may be slower until I have my team in place.
