We are blindly backsliding into the era when working in culture was basically a hobby for posh people. Working class people have never been properly represented in the arts but it's getting worse, not better. We need to get serious about funding for the arts now.
This is the inevitable result of low pay in the sector. If you cannot support yourself on an arts wage then a career in the arts becomes the preserve of the wealthy. If we want the UK heritage sector to reflect our society, it starts with increasing pay. https://t.co/8VLOOCf3Dt

I lost the Labour whip because I voted to scrap the 2 child benefit cap. Today I have had the whip restored. I hope this is a signal the government has decided to scrap the cap. In the meantime I have just been to a fantastic Richard Hawley concert. A great night.

Congratulations to our PCS V&A Wilson James comrades who have won their largest ever pay rise, up to 10% for some staff, in this year's pay bargaining after gaining recognition last year 🍾🎉

If you are one of the people going into an exhibition at a museum, seeing the large print guides and thinking "this is not an accessibility aid to allow visitors with visual impairments to enjoy the show, this is a fun memento for me to take home" please, please stop doing this

For the avoidance of any doubt I have made it explicitly clear I will vote against the government’s plans to cut benefits for disabled people. Just as I’ve done for years I will campaign with @Dis_PPL_Protest to prevent attacks on disabled people.

We condemn the University of Cambridge's attempt to place legal restrictions on all pro-Palestine protests. Alongside @PSCupdates and @LibertyHQ we call out this application to the High Court for an injunction what it is: a shameful attack on basic democratic rights.

RIP Tommy. Thank you for your loyalty to our Union and its predecessors. You were CWU and proud. And we are proud that you were a lifelong member ❤️
This is my wonderful Dad who sadly passed away last month age 92. Tommy always supported his Trade Union @CWUnews Why join a Trade Union? Dad turned 60 and, thanks to the CWU, received a works pension for 32 years. Be like Dad and join a Union! 💙 @DaveWardGS @tkearnsy @NWCWU

Imagine, working people having a say in how the economy works. Crazy. This sort of bullshit is why people hate economists
@meadwaj What do you suggest? Asking taxi drivers?

I'm a Jew too. I stood on stage again today at a peaceful protest in solidarity with the Palestinian people. That's partly because all my years growing up in Jewish schools that taught me about social injustice and standing up for what's right.
I am a Jew. Today, because of the PSC hate march, I couldn't go into central London. Just as in 2023, 2024, and now in 2025, parts of London have effectively been made Judenfrei.

Ridiculous to direct more money to the private sector instead of direct to the NHS. If someone is making a profit off of our healthcare system, it is by definition not best value for the public. Some fat cat is putting our tax money in their own pockets. Give it to nurses instead

Help this poor comrade out, pretending to be a proper adult is stressful
📣📣 Museum professionals! Prepping a presentation for later this month about successful exhibition management. If you were coming, what would you want to hear about?!? Drop a comment and help me out, I am beginning to suspect my job is actually quite complicated 🙏

Rewatching The Wrong Trousers. While I accept Feathers McGraw is a bad penguin, this museum is a shambles and they have not even begun to follow best practice when displaying a high-value object. No insurer is indemnifying that diamond displayed in that way. Frankly insane

It is our official position that the working day should commence no earlier than 11am and finish by 11.25. Anything else is frankly barbaric

Why is growth supposed to be the indicator of a healthy economy? We should look at the living conditions of ordinary people as our measure of whether an economy works, not its capacity to produce endless wealth for a small handful of people to hoard.

Sick pay should reflect national living wage according to Citizens Advice. What can we say, when we're right, we're right https://t.co/1NTbwkxzJ3

Low-paid workers unwell for four weeks would be in hardship despite changes in employment bill, charity finds
If the National Living Wage is determined as the bare minimum you need to survive then there is absolutely no reason for statutory sick pay to be set even one penny lower than that. https://t.co/9ivPQ05ehE
