BT Profit £1.3bn - Broadband price rise 9%
Royal Mail Profit £758m - Stamp price rise 10p
BP Profits £6.3bn - fuel rises 22p per litre
British Gas profits £948m - energy £700 extra a year
This isn’t a cost of living crisis
This is a cost of electing the Tories crisis.
BT Group made £1.3bn profit.
BT Group paid out £700m to shareholders.
BT Group CEO paid £3.5m this year.
BT Group have opened foodbanks at work because staff can’t get through the month on their own pay.
No more. No further. The line is drawn.
VOTE YES TODAY.
Dates nations across the world forced all travellers to enter quarantine upon arrival:
New Zealand - 16th March 2020
Australia - 17th March 2020
Thailand - 26th March 2020
UK - 18th January 2021
Utter negligence from this government.
Royal Mail Group profits £758m
Shareholder payout £400m
Paying TWO CEOs £2m +
Imposed 2% on loyal postal workers who kept the country connected during the pandemic.
They’re using Swiss banks whilst our members use foodbanks.
Ballot result Tuesday.
RT if you back us.
I NEED EVERY FOLLOWER TO RT THIS
Your local postie is facing the most important week ever.
They are facing intimidation, threats and bullying from an out of control management team.
They will strike for 2 days to save the service and their jobs.
Are you with them?
What a job the RMT are doing for the members. Absolutely smashing every single media interview and exposing everything that is wrong with this country. We are proud of you.
I’m not having ‘we did everything we could have done’ - neither should you.
- Locked down too late THREE times
- Left our borders open the whole time
- Sent positive patients back into care homes
- Eat Out to help out
- Kept schools open
100,000 dead is on this government
BT made £1.3bn, gave £750m to shareholders and the CEO got £3.5m.
We have members using foodbanks.
Today BT announced £400m profit for 1/4 year.
Tomorrow our members strike for the first time since 1987 and have been subjected to extreme intimidation.
RT if you back them.
Today The Scum newspaper, Piers Morgan, Alan Sugar and Richard Madeley have attacked Mick Lynch.
If that was all you knew about the dispute it would be enough to judge that Mick is doing a great job.
This mob have consistently been in the wrong side of history and justice.
Every single person now calling for Johnson to go has backed every decision he has taken as PM.
This isn’t a good group of people doing the right thing. This is them doing him before he does them all.
Survival. Nothing more.
Join a union. The fightback starts at work
Whilst people were dying they were drinking wine in the garden.
Whilst people’s mental health was suffering due to lockdown they were in their second homes.
Whilst businesses collapsed they held Christmas parties.
The Tories are rotten to the core. They always have been.
I’m on a picket line. It is absolutely hammering down with rain. The rep has just told me this is the biggest picket line of the whole dispute so far.
Our members are incredible.
Victory to the postal workers.
#StandByYourPost
I’ve had enough of the media pedalling the employers lines. Im calling it out every single time from now on. Started with the BBC tonight.
Stand by your postal worker. They need you.
Gillian Keegan’s husband was the CEO of Fujitsu, the company at the centre of the Post Office scandal.
Fujitsu is a partner of Infosys.
Infosys is owned by Sunak’s wife’s family.
The Tories hands are all over this cover up and injustice. We cannot let them off the hook.
What sort of world do we live in where we’ve allowed the media and their billionaire friends to present a bloke who wears recycled mittens and another who makes jam and grows vegetables as a threat to our futures?
We need new media and we need it now.
RT if you want to see CEOs in the media studios explaining how the hell they justify billions in profit, hundreds of millions to shareholders, millions into their own pockets, massive price hikes for customers and handing scraps to workers.
BP record profit - people can’t afford to fuel cars.
Energy record profits - people won’t be able to heat homes this winter
Royal Mail record profit - stamp price up
BT record profit - broadband up 23%
This isn’t a cost of living crisis. It’s a cost of voting Tory crisis.
The lines are drawn
RT if you are with the striking nurses, posties, telecom workers, rail workers, civil servants, lecturers, teachers and call centre workers
RT if you are sick and tired of all workers being told no as profits, dividends and CEO pay spiral
Enough is Enough
I am asking all of my followers to RT this thread so as many people as possible know the truth about the Royal Mail Group strikes and how our members are facing a vicious attack
#StandByYourPost
So Labour have sacked Sam Tarry for joining a rail workers picket line today. History does not reflect well on those who sit on the fence in times of injustice.
@SamTarry
join me at the CWU picket line at BT Tower on Friday morning mate. Well done.
So
@MattHancock
says the
#BlackLivesMatter
protests will ‘undoubtedly’ lead to more Covid19 deaths.
It’s a pity he wasn’t so keen on stopping 250,000 people gathering at Cheltenham. Then again, yesterday’s protestors hadn’t made big donations to him like his horse racing chums.
Hancock telling nurses to “pull together” is an absolute disgrace
Whilst he was wasting £37bn on a failed app and handing PPE contracts to his mates, nurses across the UK were working unsafely and comforting our dying loved ones
They pulled together - now pay them properly
Delicious lunch at the White Horse in Hascombe - thanks to Paul and Sorrel Morganti and their great team and of course to
@RishiSunak
!
#EatOutToHelpOut
Tomorrow I will face a hostile approach from the media when talking about our striking Royal Mail members
I couldn’t care less. And I will work every minute to make our members case and expose the bosses who are destroying decent jobs and a 500yr old service
#StandByYourPost
Can we get a RT of support for postal workers?
Bullied, pressured, intimidated, told they face the sack, losing money, an employer that is out to destroy them.
Yet they will not bow. They will not give in. They will not lay down.
Up. The. Posties.
#StandByYourPost
A woman was murdered 10 days ago. Today a serving police officer was charged with this sickening crime.
Tonight, this is the image the met police has chosen to project to the world.
Utterly shameful.
Thanks to both
@johnmcdonnellMP
and
@jeremycorbyn
who have both confirmed they will join the CWU picket line at BT Tower tomorrow morning. They know the true meaning of solidarity.
RT if you believe it should be illegal for companies to not give proper pay rises for frontline workers if they are announcing massive profits, handing out dividends to shareholders or seeing people like CEOs, Vice Chancellors and other ‘leaders’ hand themselves rises.
Working class people are having the piss taken out of us.
Decent homes, affordable bills, a proper wage, enough to eat. These aren’t privileges. They are your rights.
Today we launch Enough is Enough.
Sign up here
This has been one hell of a week. We have served notice of strike action on Royal Mail Group, BT Group, Openreach and Post Office - 170,000 Workers.
We have also launched the Enough is Enough campaign with huge levels of sign up.
This is a huge moment. Not a back step.
This 🤡 of an MP is outraged by the prospect of children wearing a mask to school but in 2020, when offered the opportunity to make sure those same children got fed over half term, voted against it.
Virtue signalling bollocks.
Thousands of nurses strike tomorrow for the first time in a generation
Soak that in. That’s the people who keep us safe. That’s the people who bring us into the world. That’s the people we clapped
RT if you stand with them and not that shower of corrupt bastards In Westminster
Hunt can say what he wants. We aren’t having a return to austerity.
We will fight them workplace by workplace and community by community.
Back every striking worker and let’s put millions on the streets to take them on.
#EnoughlsEnough
I’ll tell you what’s unnecessary - a Labour Mayor not showing solidarity with workers who are being mistreated. Nobody votes for and then takes strike action unless it’s a last resort
Don’t be like Sadiq. Join our solidarity session at 7pm tonight
This unnecessary strike action by RMT is causing widespread disruption for millions of Londoners and will also hit London’s retail, culture and hospitality at the worst possible time.
I see
@BorisJohnson
is writing to every household in the UK via Royal Mail.
Our members are key workers and it’s right they deliver government information.
RT this though if you believe Royal Mail should stop all advertising mail during this crisis to help our postal workers
Every single time workers have to pay the price.
Financial crisis. Climate crisis, pandemic, Brexit.
Well no more. The line is drawn.
There needs to be a serious rebalancing of wealth and power in the UK.
Join a union.
Tomorrow 115,000 postal workers take their 13th day of strike action to defend their jobs and the service they provide to you.
They are up against an aggressive and out of control employer.
Now more than ever they need you.
RT if you stand by your postie.
#StandByYourPost
Women are entitled to walk at night without fear, end of, and anyone commenting that Sarah Everard made a “poor decision” for living her life normally should take a cold hard look at themselves.
When companies bang on about modernisation in the media what they really mean is people working harder, faster and for less.
Workers everywhere have had enough
Not a single candidate for Tory leadership will challenge big business, change the lives of millions living in poverty, end homelessness or tackle the gross inequalities in our society.
We are going to have to do that ourselves.
Join a union, take action, back anyone on strike
Today hundreds of British Gas workers face the sack for refusing to accept inferior contracts. They worked throughout the pandemic, many have decades of service, most have families
This is an disgusting act by a once proud employer
CWU stands with you
#StopTheBritishGasFire
The story here shouldn’t be about cancelling Christmas. It should be about how utterly incompetent and irresponsible it was to put in place plans on the basis that a deadly virus which has already killed 65,000 people in the UK would take 5 days off whilst we all got together.
Welcoming Tory MPs who have slagged off the Labour Party whilst refusing, as you agreed, to reinstate the whip to a person in Jeremy Corbyn, who has devoted his whole life to our movement is unacceptable,
@Keir_Starmer
Sort it out.
This isn’t a cost of living crisis. It’s class choice.
⛽️ BP profit - £13bn
💡 Energy companies profit - £40bn
🛒 Supermarkets - record profits
🗳 MPs £2,000 pay rise
They are taking the piss and and it’s beyond the point of needing to make a stand.
Join a union.
My pay is decided by the members via our conference. They can change it at anytime.
I challenge any CEO in the UK to let their staff vote on how much they should be paid.
Most of them wouldn’t warrant minimum wage.
The likes of Nadhim Zahawi have voted for policies that see millions of kids going hungry, elderly people freezing to death, more foodbanks than McDonalds in the UK, nurses missing meals, and thousands living on the streets.
We’ll take no lectures from him or his cronies.
It’s not over because whatever happens, tomorrow we will wake up with a Tory government and whoever leads them will do nothing for working people.
We cannot wait for political change. Trade unions have to stand up in every workplace in the UK.
This image includes:
A man who lead an illegal war
A man who put civilian lives at risk with bombing
A woman that continues to sell arms to Saudi Arabia
A lifelong peace campaigner in a hooded coat
Only in UK would the coat be the talking point of this photo
He’s been attacked for buying his mum a house.
He’s been attacked for his support for anti-racism causes.
He’s been attacked for his tattoos.
Things white players don’t face.
So happy that Sterling is our talisman in this tournament.
He is the best of our country.
BT Group have today announced over £400m profits for ONE QUARTER of a year. They are rubbing it our members faces less than 24 hours before the first national strike since 1987.
CWU members - it’s time to have your say. Get on the picket lines tomorrow and Monday.
In just two days, thousands of British Gas workers will be sacked. Their crime? Refusing to sign a fire and rehire contract on inferior terms.
RT if you back these workers and call upon Labour, the government and our movement to do more to protect them.
#StopTheBritishGasFire
Genuinely do not understand why no UK political party has campaigned hard against the vast money laundering and tax avoidance operations run out of the City of London, not to mention the anonymous property deals that have distorted the UK property market.
Come on Simon, let’s have that live TV debate.
I’ll even let you bring your white board and the person writing the answers for you.
I’ll walk in with 115,000 postal workers behind me so it’s only fair you get to bring someone too.
#StandByYourPost
WE NEED EVERY SINGLE FOLLOWER TO RT THIS
We have spotted something during Simon Thompson’s car crash interview on the BBC this morning.
Having zoomed in, someone is in the room writing answers on a board for him.
Pack your bags, Thompson. It’s time to go.
#StandByYourPost
Royal Mail Group have come for our members today. Openly stating 10,000 redundancies linked to strike action.
Our members will never bow down but they need the support of every single member of the public.
If you believe in standing up to bullies then
#StandByYourPost
Today
@jeremycorbyn
spent his day handing out free toys to children in need. Tomorrow he will volunteer at a homeless centre.
We missed one hell of a chance to have a bloody decent person as our PM
The fight goes on. Merry Christmas everyone
On Friday 40,000 BT and Openreach workers will strike for the first time since 1987
BT made £1.3bn profit, gave £700m+ to shareholders, CEO £3.5m (32% increase) financial officer £2.2m (25% increase)
They then imposed a below inflation offer on staff
See you on the picket line
Good for
@Keir_Starmer
. I like Sam Tarry, but you can’t openly defy the Party leader, break collective responsibility & stay on the front bench. Labour aspire to be the Government. Job of Governments is to solve problems & take tough decisions, not go on demos & picket lines.
Royal Mail can impose a 2% pay increase on our members all they want.
We’re now going to impose the biggest industrial action ballot result in trade union history on them.
Been too busy tonight to tweet but as you’ll know by now we have served notice for the first national postal strike since 2009.
1,500+ picket lines will be assembled in every city and town in the UK.
We will light up the trade union movement.
#StandByYourPost
@Telegraph
"Dave Ward, the shaven-headed general secretary of the CWU, is known as a close union ally of Jeremy Corbyn.
During the 2015 leadership campaign he said Mr Corbyn must be elected to rid society of the “Blairite virus”.
75,000 people have signed up to the Enough is Enough campaign in just hours. Stunning. But also a reflection of the desperation that exists in communities across the UK.
We’re going to do something about it.
I’m sorry but our members are keeping the postal services of the UK going whilst, like everyone else, worrying sick about themselves and their families so the Mail and their click bait can fuck off. We will do everything we can to keep serving people whilst protecting staff.
No more pickets or media interviews for me this side of Christmas.
I want to say I could not be prouder of our members.
I started as a telegram boy in Tooting and to be able to speak on behalf of all postal workers is a huge honour.
Take the time off. Recharge.
Thank you.
Tomorrow and Friday 115,000 postal workers take strike action.
They face a company that made £758m profit, gave over £400m to shareholders, ‘awarded’ £2m in exec bonuses and recently gave the two CEOs and the CFO £2m of shares.
This is greed vs need.
Posties vs Profiteers.
Interested to see Sam Tarry sacked for apparently breaking front bench policy.
I wonder what will happen to Keir Starmer who broke Labour Party and Labour Conference policy yesterday when he moved away from the commitment to renationalise Royal Mail? 🤔
Royal Mail Group say they are losing £1m a day. They don’t say just months ago they made £758m profit, gave £400m to shareholders and the CEOs and Financial Officers took millions in bonuses
#StandByYourPost
Tomorrow the Executive of the National Education Union meets to decide the next steps as the government refuses to recognise the ongoing Covid crisis in our schools.
RT if you stand with the teachers and not this shambolic and irresponsible government.
Ken Loach is a lifelong anti-racism campaigner and has always stood with CWU members - his film ‘Sorry We Missed You’ highlighted inequality in our industry.
Ken stood with us. We stand with him.
Get him back in the party. No ifs, no buts, no deals.
Tomorrow 115,000 CWU members in Royal Mail Group take strike action for the first time since 2009.
They have been threatened, they have been intimidated and they have seen managers bribed to break the strike.
But tomorrow they will light up the movement.
Believe.
Up and on my way to meet CWU members on the picket lines today. BT and Openreach members taking strike action for the first time in 35 years.
This will change the union and our collective strength for the better.
Proud of our reps and members.
Oops. I didn’t mean to push his buttons. You know when I think of the Labour movement, it’s the people that work for Dave on a daily basis that are the real heroes.
I am baffled by the treatment of
@IanByrneMP
. He’s everything a Labour MP should be: someone who came through the shop floor, an energetic campaigner tuned in with working people’s concerns.
1% pay for NHS staff is an utter disgrace.
And I’m sick of people playing along as if Sunak is the good guy.
- Eat out to help out infecting thousands
- 80% furlough but 100% bills
- left 3m self employed with nothing
It’s time to take these people on.
Keir Starmer claims he has a razor sharp focus on the issues.
Well the issue is the rich are getting richer, the powerful are getting more power - all whilst millions of working class people are paying the price .
If Labour hasn’t got the bottle to stand up now- it never will
Are you taking the piss Tim? Your party joined the Tories and privatised Royal Mail and separated it from the Post Office - we’ll campaign to save Kendal Post Office - with the community, our members and Labour activists - not you
Terrible news today that Kendal Post Office is to be closed, downgraded and moved into WHSmith. We demand better for our area - that's why I'm launching a campaign to save Kendal Post Office.
Our BT and Openreach members take their 6th day of strike action today.
CEO Philip Jansen is missing in action.
Paid £3.5m a year but won’t attend talks and won’t face the media.
RT if you think
#FoodbankPhil
and so many business leaders like him, need to be held to account
Very happy to see the US postal service involved in the arrest of Steve Bannon.
We’ve got 110,000 members happy to find and arrest Johnson and Cummings.
What a day. 18 days of strike action, relentless intimidation, gaslighting and demoralisation.
Royal Mail thought the union was done.
In response our members have delivered the biggest ever turnout in a national ballot.
No words.
Now we must win the dispute.
It’s time to bring to a close the era of workers having the piss taken out of them.
BT made £1.3bn profit, paid £750m to shareholders, gave the CEO £3.5m and whacked up prices 9.3% before imposing a pay deal.
Our members will show what they think of that on the picket line.
The most shocking thing about Starmer’s refusal to reinstate the whip to Jeremy Corbyn is that it yet again deflects from the serious issues of the day. Millions face redundancy, hundreds are dying every day and the government gets away with it. But Starmer wants a civil war.
RT if you will never, ever use P&O ferries if they do not step back from firing their loyal workforce and replacing them with scab labour.
Solidarity with RMT.
As the leader of an affiliated union I know that many of our activists worked tirelessly for a Labour government. It is incredible to see how deep rooted the attempts to sabotage that objective were. The strongest action is now required, including membership suspensions.
Only 9% of Brits think we should return to ‘normal’ once this crisis is over. I’m with the 91% - there can be no return to the previous broken status quo that this virus has exposed. We must rebuild our society so that it works for people and not financial interests.
