If you feel like you're bad at your job and it's making you depressed, just consider that, as the investigation of the recent heist revealed, the password to access the Louvre's videosurveillance system was "Louvre".

. @LNER has released a statement from Andrew Johnson, the driver of the 1825 Doncaster to London King's Cross on Saturday night. "The action I took is the same as any other driver. I think my colleagues onboard were the real heroes and I’d like to pay tribute to their bravery."

This shocking incident in Huntingdon must surely do away with any barmy idea of Driver Only Operation (DOO) trains. Train guards are absolutely crucial. @RMTunion

More stop and search powers wouldn’t have stopped this train knife attack. What did make a difference was having a train manager present and going beyond the call of duty. All parties should now rule out plans to cut train managers.

Funny* isn't that the Media complain about the 15% payrise for Train Drivers over 3 years, or the 22% payrise for Doctors over 3 years. But they ignore the 76% payrise for CEO's over the last 5 years, or the 38% payrise for Bankers in 1 year. *Disgusting

What a hero. And a reminder of the vital high pressured job train drivers do.
Excl: The driver of the train who made the emergency stop in Huntingdon, Andrew Johnson, told ITV News tonight that he was “just doing my job”. But he surely saved lives. He says the member of LNER staff still in hospital with life-threatening injuries “was the brave one”.

I see the mainstream media praise rail workers and emergency services. And I say this. If you are sincere in your praise support them the next time they strike for better pay instead of your usual articles about how they are lazy and overpaid.

8 minutes between initial report and being at a stand at #Huntingdon. That’s fast thinking, fast action and professionals working at their best: never tell me ever again that me or my colleagues “just press buttons.” I raise my hat to @LNER, @networkrail & @BTP.

Huntingdon is a useful corrective for those who think a train driver "just sits in a cab and pushes a lever", or that the role of train guard can be abolished without consequence.

*RARE* About to take 802 213 “Unity” on a rare trip from Manchester Airport to Glasgow Central, though I’m on it as far as Carlisle. 802s are usually only seen on runs to Edinburgh.
