Stamp dutyโs plagued Britain since Labour introduced it in 2003. It canโt be reformed, it canโt be tweaked: it has to go. Conservatives will abolish stamp duty and stop penalising those who want to own a home, build a family or to downsize.

The media is also bowing to it, just like the 1930s.
Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery. But when it involves sacrificing a distinctive identity, as in the case of Badenoch's Conservatives with Reform, it spells disaster. And Heseltine is correct. It all has the sinister ring of 1930s-style far right politics.
